Unfulfilled promises in 5 star hotel
The hotel was advertised as a 5-star establishment, complete with complimentary breakfast and parking. The staff were notably amiable, and the setting—an aged, historical building with an enchanting garden—added to its charm. Regrettably, our room did not live up to expectations. Despite my pre-arrival request for two beds, this arrangement was unavailable, and the room itself was diminutive, housing a notably small bed. The interior decor and amenities were strikingly basic. Disappointingly, there was no refrigerator, and only a lone complimentary water bottle provided on the initial day of our stay. Moreover, the in-room safe was inoperative.
The breakfast offering left much to be desired. A mere five options were available, predominantly centered around egg-based dishes, with a singular sweet alternative. The conspicuous absence of vegetables or cheese was conspicuous. The service was lagging, and the quality of the food was subpar.
Our expectations, founded on the hotel's billing as a 5-star haven, were far from met. Instead, the experience felt akin to a 2 or 3-star lodging. Despite redeeming 3 free nights for this stay, the added expenses for additional guests, supplementary taxes, and parking fees—amounting to £10 per night—equaled the cost of a 3-star hotel stay spanning three nights. The perceived value for money was sorely lacking.
