«We were a bit disappointed with this. I’d say the pictures on the site are very flattering. We arrived in the evening to lots of building and maintenance materials outside the front and in the entrance area. Not the best start. The member of staff who met us was pleasant and helpful. The room was only ok, clean enough but not great. It was just for one stopover for an early flight and the location for that purpose is good. «Absolute gem of a place to stay. Gorgeous room with everything you need & so peaceful. The food was really good both for dinner & breakfast. We visited Fountains Abbey which was only 2 miles away. And we could do parkrun with plenty of time to get back before checkout & eat breakfast. Would love to return.»

«A lovely inn situated in a peaceful village but very handy for visiting the attractions within York and the North Yorkshire National park. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and our room was very clean and comfortable. We can recommend the food and drinks on offer in the air conditioned restaurant, both on the evening we stayed and for breakfast the following day. Top marks.»

«Exceeded expectations all round. Unusual for uk pub bedrooms.. air conditioning! lovely bedroom above the pub, well appointed, comfortable and quiet once closed. New Owners Becks and Tony super helpful and welcoming. Pub itself also great. Will definitely be back in the future»

«Budget price - budget room. Room was basic but very clean and beds were comfy. Tea and coffee available (& extra if needed). We literally just slept there so perfect. Parking on site was brilliant, plenty of space - 20 minutes walk into centre. Quiet despite being over a pub. Outside Iron staircase to the accommodation was a bit daunting with luggage though so something to be mindful of, but if you’re looking for cheap accommodation in a beautiful city then, it’s ideal.»

«The room was spotless and huge. The bed was comfy and we had a great view of the Minster, although there are currently building works taking place opposite the inn, but that can't be helped. I would note that the room doesn't have a safe, which would've been nice and also the bathroom windows feel like people can see in. Not sure if they actually can but they are not majorly frosted. We would definitely stay here again if/when we come back to York.»

«The car GPS wasn't very good but I managed to use the directions on my phone. The rooms are across the road from the actual hotel. The food was really tasty especially the Full English breakfast which was inclusive. The Accessible room was very comfortable& the wet room was great, just what I needed. Definitely recommend this place.»
