«The setting is north-facing, to bush and a rocky-bedded stream. Apart from the occasional sound from some friendly animal, you hear burbling water and wind in the trees. Inside everything is ‘proper’ and well maintained. The fire has copious supplies of dry wood replenished daily, from trees on the property. The couches are comfy and the kitchen is well-appointed. Ōkaihau is 10 or 12 kms away and has cafes and stores. It is a lovely small traditional NZ town. Village? The location is convenient ...

We had a splendid time - visited Paihia, Kerikeri, Waitangi, Russell, Long Beach, boat tour of the Bay of Islands (out to the hole in the rock). Amazing! Wished we could stay longer.
