This Holiday Inn Express had had a rough few days prior to our arrival, with several months' worth of rain falling over about 48 hours. This resulted in parking lot flooding and some incursion of water into the lobby. They notified us in advance and were coping with it as well as could be expected. Part of the parking lot was closed and the carpets were going to need a good cleaning, but we had no trouble finding a good space for the car.
The hotel is in a great location and our second floor room had a balcony that overlooked the Ventura harbor marina.
The only thing that made me a little grumpy was that BOTH on-demand grind and brew coffee machines were down, necessitating coffee being dispensed from an urn. No big deal, really, but both machines? Our second morning, there was no half&half out when the service first opened. Minor detail, but we pick HIE for the excellent amenities and we look forward to our morning coffee.
This is a very nice hotel in a great location, though. They were just having a challenging few days.
