I spoke with duty manager on Sunday before leaving, with the promise that the general manager would phone and/or email. I wanted to give the hotel a fair amount of time to fulfill that side of the agreement.
I want this to be fair… but the issues on Saturday night far outweigh the positives.
Positives:
The hotel room was comfortable. While the bathroom could do with an upgrade the shower was excellent. Check-in was smooth. I had breakfast the first morning and it was cooked to order (not buffet) with excellent ingredients.
ISSUES:
Impossible to Sleep (avoid at all costs at the weekend)
I’ve waited a couple of days to give the general manager time to call and discuss this stay so it’s time to post my honest review (it’s a complaint letter)!
I booked this hotel specifically for its advertised "quiet and serene" environment, needing proper rest (I was lecturing all weekend). Unfortunately, my three-night stay was a masterclass in failed hospitality and broken promises, defined by a complete lack of proactive care and transparency.
Their disclaimer about making "every effort" to minimise impact felt like a cruel joke. No meaningful effort was made. I was trapped, paying for a room that was unfit for purpose on the most expensive night. I had to favour an extra half hour in bed so had no time to eat the breakfast I had paid for on Sunday!
The management's handling was the true failure. There was no prior warning, other than an email to my spam. Receptionist didn’t mention
