This beautiful one bedroom hideaway is perfect for couples or small families who would like to holiday out of the city and experience more of beautiful Canterbury. Located in Tai Tapu in a lovely property called Wooldale which is just across from the iconic Otahuna Lodge, this delightful cottage is in an ideal spot for anyone who wants a holiday with a little bit more privacy.

It is a 30 minute drive from the Christchurch Airport, and a 25 minute drive back into the middle of Christchurch so it is the perfect getaway for people who would like a private holiday without straying too far from the city. The cottage has one spacious bedroom containing a queen bed, it has a comfy bench seat right next to the window, perfect for curling up with a book. There is also double doors leading out to a table and chairs for anyone who wants to sit out in the sun in the morning with a cup of coffee. The bathroom has a large shower, vanity and toilet. The kitchen is fully self-sufficient with an oven, stovetop, microwave and toaster, as well as a washing machine. The living room has a two-seater couch plus two chairs, a four-seater round table and a TV.

The land surrounding the hideaway is breath-taking. There are trees surrounding the large area and a great spot in the middle to set up chairs or picnic blankets to have some food or wine at lunchtime. There is a 5 minute walk down to a lovely area of native bush and pond to get a bit of exercise as well. Very close is the historical Otahuna Lodge and Gardens, a piece of New Zealand history. The restaurant in the lodge is also newly open to people who aren’t staying directly at the Lodge if it is booked in advance.

Otahuna Hideaway is a beautiful place to holiday and relax away from the city. There is plenty of space to park cars to do the 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk away to get to the delicious Raspberry Cafe which has some amazing food. The hideaway is also a 6 minute drive and a 50 minute walk into the centre of Tai Tapu which has a great restaurant and cake shop, as well as a library and a golf course.
