Practical and cozy hut
We had a great night at the iStya Cottages. The check-in and check-out is very practical, as you just get a code to the key box, and can come and leave at any time. We had to leave early in the morning to catch our flight, and it was a very short drive to the airport. Eerything was sparkling clean, and the common area with the kitchen was very nice and practical. We had a good nights sleep, and woke up to a lovely view of the Icelandic countryside.

Die Unterkunft war sehr schön. Die einzelnen Hütten sahen wirklich traumhaft aus. Der große Aufenthaltsraum mit Küche ist super modern und perfekt ausgestattet. Die beiden Bäder haben schöne bodenebene Duschen und sind großzügig vom Platz. Leider ist es im Winter unpraktisch vom Bad zur Hütte zu laufen auf Grund der Kälte. Parkplätze direkt vor der Tür, sonst sehr abgelegen.

It's self-checkin, no people there, you need to have your assigned room# and pin to get your room key. We arrive there in dark, the Good map led us to a wrong place - a camp site(also no service people at the camp site) So it took us half hour to get to the actual iStay Cottages.

Great option when coming on a late flight or leaving on an early one and need to stay close to the airport but still far from city and have a unique experience. Cute, very clean, simple, comfortable and actually spacious, not tiny. Contactless check in is a breeze.

This is a self check-in stay and the communication was abysmal. The property administration never sent us the advance email you typically receive with the check-in details. We arrived at the property and the front door said to 'refer to the email we received' and to 'call this number; in case we needed help, which we were unable to do as we are foreigners and did not have access to a local phone plan while in Iceland. We had to spend over an hour working through Expedia who had to call them repeatedly until they finally answered; we know Expedia explained our problem to them and they advised how to access our cottage, but we still never heard directly from the property administration after that - no apology or any information about what to expect during our stay. After we finally managed to get into our cottage, we found bugs (dead and alive) all over the place. There was no hand soap in the shared bathrooms, and when we left our own in there for others to use, the cleaner threw it away and still did not refill the soap dispenser. This is a nice-looking cottage on the surface, but we were really disappointed with the lack of attention to detail and the lack of customer service.

Great property, would highly recommend if you have an early morning flight from Keflavik. It’s less than 10 min drive to the airport and there is a gas station in town. Nice little cottages. We stayed in one with two twin beds and access to the shared bathrooms. Beds were super comfortable and the bathrooms were large, modern, and clean. Didn’t use the kitchen ourselves but did see other guests cooking meals in there. Self check-in and check-out was super easy. Google Maps took us to the wrong location (campground next door) but we quickly figured out where we were supposed to go. Only complaint was that the wifi is very spotty inside the cottages. Had to leave the door cracked open to get a good signal, which was less than ideal because it gets quite cold and windy at night.

Very clean facilities including our cabin and bathroom. Despite it being cold and rainy, our cabin was fairly warm. The bed was comfortable. Check in/out process was very smooth. It is very close to the airport and Dollar/Thrift my car rental which was nice for us returning our rental car early in the morning.

I like the cabins, they are nice and well distributed. But pictures are grateful: on the website it looks like you live in the middle of the countryside in isolation, in reality you live up and down a building site. The cabins themselves were nice and modern. However, the corners at the panels were not completely clean. Improvements; there are no shelves or a hanger bar so you can unpack your suitcase. In addition, sockets are missing on both sides of the bed, only one side is equipped with a smart socket-cube. And then there should be a solution so that birds don't build nests on the roof every morning at 6 am. However, I would still recommend iStay. It is at a perfect distance to the airport. Really good opportunities to enjoy the northern lights and we felt safe and comfortable.

I mistakenly missed the email regarding check in procedure so if you book here make sure you check your Expedia messages for the check in codes - which can be difficult during travel. This is a great clean little cottage close to the airport on a beautiful lava field. Third time staying and will use again.

We absolutely loved it and would definitely stay again. The reason for 4/5 stars in the area category is that it would’ve been nice to have a catwalk from the parking lot to the cottage. It was rainy a bit while we were there, so walking over the grass/dirt was not ideal.

Localisation pas incroyable, mais les cottages sont très bien et propres. Cusine partagée moderne, très fonctionnelle et propre. Le seul problème et ça ne viens peut être pas des propriétaires mais du site. Nous n’avons pas reçu le code pour la boite à clés comme il était indiqué et nous ne sommes pas les seuls. J’ai appelé au numéro indiqué et personne ne répondais, heureusement que quelqu’un travaillais à la laverie pour appeler la propriétaire car nous aurions été bloqués plusieurs heures avec le bébé sans les clés.

Worst experience ever. This is a complete scam. I had booked the hotel for a quick sleep of the whole family following a late arrival. However we were never able to checkin as the hotel hadn't shared the information about the lockers, and nobody was available on the phone provided ... After 15 unanswered calls and a helpless Hotels.com hotline we had to sleep on the car and were not able to enjoy the hotel. A day later also nobody answered our phones.

We stayed one night before an early flight at nearby KEF. The cottage was clean enough. The bed was super comfortable and the wifi was reliable. I loved the towel warmer in the bathroom and the little common room with a kitchen. The area is beautiful and quiet with quick access to the airport. However, the shower never truly become warm which is disappointing in Iceland. Also, I could not access Netflix even though it said it was available, no channels were available either. The surrounding town is SMALL. I ventured out to find food at the one restaurant that was in town, and although it was supposed to be open it was closed. A local said “sometimes it’s open.” We ended up at the gas station which sufficed, but just be prepared, especially if you’re without transportation like I was.

The cottage was clean and cosy, with beautiful views of the lupines. The shared area was well equipped with kitchen and seating area, but smelled really bad, so we didn’t spend much time in there. Our cottage was beautifully decorated and felt secluded when you were inside. The location wasn’t our favorite because it was in the suburbs, but it felt like you were in the country when you were inside. Check in and out was quick and easy.

Very nice stay. Only issue I had was parking is gravel so you have to lug your suitcase to the walkway. And also the fridge in the main area looked like it had old food that needed to be tossed. Other than those small things this was a very cute place to stay and would definitely recommend!

This was a great property. The location was perfect, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. We were very pleased and would stay here again in the future. The shower drain backs up so water ends up in the entry way. It has been going on a while because there is damage to the woodwork on the corner by the floor. But in the scope of things, a minor detail. We had some difficulty because there was supposed to be an automated message with instructions on how to check in by lock box. Unfortunately for reasons I do not understand, we never got the email. And no it was not in the junk folder. However this was not the property managers fault. In fact I called the phone number in the door for emergencies and the manger was very helpful and kind. Things happen and the problem was easily solved. The common area was spotless. Stocked with coffee and plates and everything you would need. We love the idea of this property. They really have done a good job.
