«Fantastic location next to the cathedral with grounds and parking. It's a beautiful very old building but some of the decor is tired. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a set menu served in two parts, first part is continental style which was lovely, the second part was more traditional English breakfast which had real potential however it was spoiled as the sausage was overcooked and dry, but the bacon was murdered and just shattered as it was extremely overdone, inedible ...

«We arrived the tv in the room didn’t work we were told it was due to a storm but later found out it was the control box. That was it left to our own devices no sorry we were told free drinks were offered but we didn’t receive anything. At breakfast there wasn’t enough room so again left to our own devices to find seating in the cold bar. We were asked at breakfast if the room needed service or a drink we said service but got neither. All in all the staff could do better. »

«This B&B has converted the old stables into rooms. Rooms are OK, not too fancy but good for 1-2 nights stay. The personnel is very kind and the breakfast is good. OK pub. Hotel is in convenient distance from the center and bus station.»

«Great stay in a great pub/inn in a lovely village. Originally we were looking for somewhere near York and picked this place at random – so got lucky. Decent-sized, comfortable room, the beer 'proper' Yorkshire, and the food was excellent throughout – we could have eaten almost amything on the quite extensive menu. «Room was in good condition however it was a disabled room that was not advised on booking. There was an intermittent unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. Seeing the disabled room I immediately requested a room change but here was not much enthusiasm as we had a 2 night stay and was told the hotel was full the following night so not much they could do and on the first night there were currently no other made up rooms. Overall the staff at the bar and in the restaurant and around the hotel ...

«The staff were excellent especially the young man who checked us in, served dinner and served at the bar. I didn’t sleep much at all the first night because of the very hard mattress but after I asked if we could have an extra duvet on the bed then the second night I slept much better. Breakfast was plentiful but the service was very slow. We had dinner here both evenings and it was ok but again the service was very slow. We would stay here again.»
