Špania Dolina is a picturesque historic village in central Slovakia, around 10 km from Banská Bystrica. Once famous for mining, the village is embracing low level tourism and is an excellent base for hiking and mountain biking, with the Veľká Fatra and Nízke Tatry national parks in close proximity. The most notable attraction is the fortified church, which was built in Gothic and Renaissance styles, with a little bit of Baroque thrown in for good measure. Many of surrounding buildings have been preserved or rebuilt, including some wooden miners' houses. There is a covered stairway from the main square up to the church (160 steps). Many of surrounding buildings have been preserved or rebuilt, including some wooden miners' houses. This was taken whilst hiking between Špania Dolina and Banská Bystrica, both of which were old mining settlements. Incredible views of the surrounding area, although that was probably helped by the weather! #hiking #nature #TakeAhike

Hotellet var dessverre under renovering da vi besøkte det, juli 2011. Rommene var bra, beliggenheten god og etter renovasjonen blir dette enda bedre. Frokosten er veldig standard, ikke forvent buffet.

Eén nacht op doorreis
Voor de prijs van één nacht mocht het wel wat meer zijn. Bowling was volledig volzet, zwembad leuk snel op uitgekeken. Het ontbijt zeer goed en de omgeving en het zicht zijn prachtig.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were very clean and the location nice and quiet. The playground was covered in snow and our daughter loved it! The playground even without snow would be amazing. I would definitely come back here again.
