Breakfast experience was appalling and expensive. We had to wait significantly for a clean table to be available. When we finally were seated, there were no cups for coffee, no glasses for juice, and nearly all the food had gone. It took us over an hour to have breakfast waiting for everything to be replenished.

Disappointed with the breakfast. Arrived at 10am (still 1hr of service to go) and they had run out of bacon, fried eggs, scrambled eggs and about 2 sausages left. There was also no bread for the toaster or teabags. The pancake machine was also showing an error message. Several guests were milling around trying to find something to eat, complaining of poor choice and having to wait for stocks to be refilled.We had to wait at least 10 minutes for fresh supplies of the hot food to arrive.

My flight was cancelled. Meeting a cruise the morning I arrived due to alternate flight. I was unable to use reservation and even under the circumstances Doubletree would not refund my cost. Expedia was useless

Our room was quiet noisy we could hear everyone who passed as the sound proofing of the door wasn’t great and we were by the reception and lift lobby.

Tranquil place as there is limited things to do way out here. But good to walk to a nice pub. Hotel needs to put a lightbulb in a lamp, as the desk lights was not working.

everything was fine except the dining - was absolutely terrible. the breakfast was fine just the evening meals were all rated zero! we also noticed room dining full meals on trays in the corridors - barely touched.

Clean and good room. Ideal location to break up our journey. Reception staff were helpful and attentive but breakfast staff were few and far between.

Bedroom was clean and bed was comfortable but reception staff were disinterested. There's a charge for parking your car (even for Hilton Honors members). WiFi was tediously slow and borderline unusable (don't expect to be able to access social media let alone stream content).There are better hotels in Southampton.

The coldest hotel room I’ve stayed in for a long time. The in room heating system didn’t work and although I had a heater brought to the room by helpful and friendly staff; it didn’t really have the capacity to heat the room. The corridors were warmer than my room and the thin duvet on the bed meant I slept with my clothes on in order to stay warm! I would have mentioned it but upon checking out I wasn’t asked how my stay was and to be fair the person on duty didn’t seem to have any interest in me as a guest and took forever to print out a receipt for my stay! It’s a great shame as the hotel is otherwise nice but I wouldn’t stay here again unless it was warmer weather !

First time we've stayed in a DoubleTree by Hilton, although stayed in Hilton hotels many times, very impressed. Extremely smart, inviting and roomy foyer and overall. Very welcoming and helpful staff throughout. And our room was great value for money. Wonderful location and convenient for the Cruise Terminal.

Not 'upscale' as described
I stayed for just one night for business. There was only 1 person on reception at 4pm so had to queue awhile to check in. Room was nice and spacious, bed comfy and lovely soft pillows were provided but the room was cold. I turned up the heating using the controller on the wall (to 23C for fast action) but no warm air came out of the vents. I tried several more times, eventually turning it up to 29C to see if that worked, but no, still tepid air. Eventually I went to bed to keep warm (and listened to a low background hum of equipment running in the background, not my heating fan as that was off because of the cold air being blown out). Overnight temperatures outside dropped to -3C and the room was really cold at 6:30am but still would not respond to turning up the temperature control. Had to stay in the bathroom after a very hot shower to stay warm (and there was black mold around the shower sealant that needs to be sorted out). However, food was good and staff very friendly & helpful - no complaints there; but on balance, probably wouldn't stay there again.

A hotel that does what it needs to and at a good price. It’s dog friendly but not ‘doggy’. Service is always polite and friendly with a welcome cookie! Third time we’ve stayed.

Great comfy hotel.
Great hotel, perfect to see our son who lives a mile away. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Plenty of parking at £5 a night. (Never like paying for parking, but a least it was reasonable) room was big, well equipped and well decorated. Bed was excellent. Minor issues, no hot water on arrival which wasn't sorted. Was piping hot in the morning. Breakfast, there was plenty. Unfortunately it was cold. Note to self, get up earlier. We still had a grat stay.

Cold room, faulty heating and no solution
Our room heating did not work. It took someonw over 3 hours to come and check and acknowledge that there was somethjng wrong. Then they took another 2 hrs to try to fix while we waited in cold room until after midnight. An angineer then brought a broken leg oil based plug in radiator that was not suffice for the room size. Thr reception said we cannot change room as fully booked. It was overall awful to also learn that this was ongoing issue with this hotel rooms.

Room was nice although making ip the room was hit and miss during my 4 night stay. Bins weren’t emptied (despite being full) and coffee cups not cleaned out on most days. Beware of the parking charges as these were highlighted when checking in and I only noticed the charge on the bill when checking out.
