First of all I must make it clear that the staff were very friendly and helpful and most of what we witnessed whilst staying was beyond their remit . We arrived around lunchtime and decided ti order some bites to eat, before checking in. The onion rings and chunky chips were cooked in too lower heat, therfore were oily in both taste and texture, which was disappointing. After lunch we checked into room No. 3. Debs, who gave us our key and explained all the nessasary rules and procedures was very helpful and friendly and knew her stuff. Our room was cramped, had dated decor with hideous brown doors. The shower in our ensuite bathroom had great pressure, which was great. The carpets throughout the facillity were worn and dated and so was our mattress, which made sleeping very uncomfortable and difficult. Obviously due to not enjoying the food on our arrival, we decided not to eat at the Steamer for main meals. We had paid for breakfast, which was served from 8:30am, personally I would have preferred it an hour earlier. The chef couldn't do poached eggs but could do fried or scrambled which was odd! During our stay the corridor and staircase became dirty with sand and mud, unfortunately no effort was made to simply run a vacuum cleaner over it or the room we stayed in. I'd like to say we also ate at the Dairyman's Daughter (a sister pub , restaurant) where we found the food to be very good. This review has been written as we felt attention needs to be drawn to these facts.
