«It’s a 3 star stay but with 5 star cleanliness and service, lovely people and the room was big with a very clean comfortable bed, the decor was nice enough but a little rough around the edges, certainly why it’s a 3 star- fresh paint but not to the highest of standards, functional furniture but needs updating etc, I would stay there again.»

«Really enjoyed our stay at Ashbys. Steve and Mubi were warm, welcoming and helpful and the room and public spaces (lounge / games room, kitchen, bar area) were comfortable and well equipped. It was clear that a lot of thought has been given to making Ashbys a unique place to stay: welcoming, relaxing and fun. A great location too for the bars, seafront and Southsea attractions! Our bathroom window needed a blind - more for the neighbours than anything! - and the bedroom a second bedside table ...

«Dette er et greit hotell i Ryde, "hovedstaden" på Isle of Wight. Jeg valgte det på grunn av den lave prisen (litt over 400 kroner) og hadde ikke all verdens forventninger, men jeg ble egentlig positivt overrasket. Rommet var av en grei størrelse og hotellet hadde en grei standard. I forhold til prisen var dette et kupp.»

«I have been in Portsmouth lots of times and stayed at different hotels and houses. Blue Star House might very well be on top of my list! I like the self service way of doing things, and also the owner is very quick to respond if there is any inquiries. I will most definitely come back here. The location is great too. The rooms are a bit small, but who cares. When in Portsmouth, you do not stay in your hotel room, you go outside ;)»

«The hotel was exceptional. Location was fantastic - very near to bus stop, walking distance to the beach, a convenience store is nearby, there is a lovely restaurant within walking distance. The hotel itself was absolutely lovely - clean, cosy, comfortable. Just perfect. Wendy & Steve was the best. Would definitely come back. If anything, just one thing to be aware of - you need to up one flight of stairs to get to the bedrooms.»

«Room was a little tired but overall okay. Minor issues like ripped wallpaper etc. My only issue was the fact the latch was slightly damaged on the inside so I had no way to properly lock the door. I had to put the chain on and shove a doorstop under the door, as a solo female traveller this made me a little uncomfortable. Walls are very thin so be aware if you’re a light sleeper.
