We spent two nights in this pub near Settle. The area is beautiful and the staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The lady who greeted us offered a box of meat scraps for our dog (very welcome!) and our room was small but comfortable and spotlessly clean. We were given a complimentary plate of the most delicious home made shortbread I have ever tasted to enjoy with the tea and coffee provided in the room. It was a Sunday night and unfortunately the roast lamb was finished by the time we sat down but we enjoyed a lovely steak and mushroom pie with fantastic chips. Breakfast was equally good with a choice of cooked breakfast items, cereal, locally produced yoghurt etc. In the evening the pub was incredibly busy (and it was a Monday too) but the staff were calm, smiling and efficient. Unfortunately the plat de jour had all gone (so the moral is get in early) but our second choice was also excellent. The best thing about this pub - although there is little to criticise - are the lovely people who run it. Nothing was too much trouble. I could not recommend more highly.
