Avoid this property and property management

Location: It was located in a rough, working class neighborhood. One of houses had at least 7 seven cars. Some of which were parked in front of the homestay property. Condition: The HVAC didn't work. They had to replace the whole HVAC system. We were stuck in a cold house during the winter with contractors in and out of the house for 2 weeks. The only compensation offered was 250. They were more concerned about having to spend money to replace the HVAC. This house isn't maintained to a level to be a short term rental. Safety and privacy: Men in unmarked vehicles were constantly walking into the backyard and trying to open the front door via the keypad. When property management was contacted about this, they said they were the landscaping people. These men didn't appear to be the typical landscaping crew, and no yard maintenance occurred during the homestay. With no proper notice and concerned about our safety and privacy, we put a lock on the backyard. Property management harassed us about the lock but was aloof about the men constantly walking into the backyard. We were treated worse than tenants and left with little recourse. I can't recommend this specific homestay or this host who has several properties throughout the area.

Where to start

So many issues here. The home is not as advertised. It says downtown old town when it is about 25 minutes from either. It says walking distance to shopping and restaurants which is a stretch from the truth. The rules state not to block in neighbors or be loud yet the neighbors blocked us in and played loud music every single night until after midnight. Upon entering the home it had a very strong unpleasant odor. It was also unclean in many places. I contacted the host and sent pictures just to get a response that she would notify management. The home lacked essential items in the kitchen. I had to go purchase some basic cooking items like a spatula a baking sheet and forks. I was very upfront that I would have extra guests a few days out of my stay which the host responded with all the sleeping arrangements. I was charged for extra guests but necessary items for their stay like towels sheets and blankets were not provided. Upon contacting the host I was told it was because I never confirmed the total guests which I reminded her I had. I had to go purchase the needed items. There was not a garage door remote to park in the garage as advertised. The host asked me to take out her trash for her but wouldn’t respond to my growing concerns about the property. Sacramento Weekend

The property was as the pictures show. Very clean and nice back yard. The neighborhood was decent. Park nearby that I walked the dogs to. Back yard was fenced in. 2 car garage that easily fit our SUV. Kitchen was stocked well and had gas range. Overall we would stay there again if in the area.

Could be so much better, NOT worth the price!

The photos are beautiful, yet not accurate. The walls are scraped and corners chipped, cobwebs, the housekeeper uses bleach and the smell is so strong it took hours to get rid of the obnoxious smell. The bleach combined with the 6 plug-in wall scents were overwhelming, instant headache. Kitchen looks great in the photos - there are a lot of cups, glasses and silverware, yet no large fry pan, no cooking utensils, no cleaning products, no dishwasher soap - how do tenants use the dishwasher when checking out if there's no soap? The answer is, they don't. We had to re-wash (we bought soap) everything we used - everything was really dirty and greasy. We re-washed towels and linens as these were suspect - didn't smell clean and, the washing machine was set on rinse and spin, not a wash cycle.....ewwwwwww. The neighborhood is South Sacramento. Cars parked everywhere, not well taken care of. Tried to walk my two little dogs and ran into large barking dogs and some scary looking folks sitting in cars....not good. The back yard has grass, a seating group that could use cleaning, a BBQ that sits under the drips from the overflowing gutters. Just not a great rental. Looks like a party house based on the walls....a coat of paint inside and out would go a long way, as would adding some kitchen basics. Disappointing given the total costs with fees, certainly not worth the price.

Great place to stay if you can find it

I used Google maps which gives an inaccurate location of the property. The street name is also not visible so some additional instructions on how to get to the property are needed. Fortunately I arrived during the day so was able to figure things out. For those arriving at night it would be difficult. Other than that the place was clean and we had an enjoyable stay. We used the tennis courts at the community college to warm up for our tennis matches. Beds were comfy and neighborhood was quiet. Great stay

Classy, clean, and comfortable

The Sunny House in Southwestern Sacramento is simply lovely, and we would definitely stay there again. The house is beautifully appointed and absolutely spotless. We experienced a July heat wave during our stay there, and the central air conditioning worked extremely well. The small table near the entry with the built-in charging station was very convenient and we used it daily to recharge our devices. The outdoor seating area is charming. We loved the elegant decor. We slept well and appreciated the numerous pillows and nice bedding. All of the appliances were newer and functioned very well. The walk-in closet in the master bedroom is spacious and generously supplied with nice hangers. The bathrooms were well appointed with soaps and shampoos and lots of towels, and the master bath counter had ample space for cosmetics and such. We appreciated the multiple large screen televisions. We would highly recommend The Sunny House to others, and we hope to stay there again on our next visit to the Elk Grove/Sacramento area.

Can’t wait to go back to this house

The property name Sunny House says it all, sunny, beautiful, syltilysh, well appointed and fully equipped with everything for a comfortable stay. It was the perfect house for our family reunion and all of our out of town guests complemented our choice of home for the occasion. Location was very convenient and only a short 10 minute drive away to all the downtown attractions and extremely close to Elk Grove where our extended family lives. Easy check in process and simple check in and check out instructions. The property management company was very accommodating and immediately coordinated for extra supplies to be delivered within minutes when we contacted them. We booked many vrbo's before, but the Sunny House will always be number one on our list. Thank you for everything! Rayan

Amazing Pleasant and Relaxing Stay

The Sunny House was beautiful, newly renovated, modern and spacious. It had everything we needed to make our stay amazing and more. Location is with very easy access to downtown about 10-15 min and made it really convenient for us to stay on schedule with all activities we had planned. Back yard is to die for, spacious and relaxing, we enjoyed the barbeque as well. The spacious lay out and different sleeping arrangements in the house allowed for our large group to sleep comfortably. The house had high quality organic cotton sheets and extremely comfortable beds! The property manager was an absolute pleasure to work with and promptly answered all of our questions prior to checking in. This was by far one of the best vrbo we stayed at! We are definitely coming back next year and staying at the amazing Sunny House! Alex

House is nice

Check in was a little cumbersome, they want a photo of you and the credit card used sent via VRBO messenger which I thought bypassed security of VRBO by giving personal info to strangers. House was not available until 10 pm vs 4 pm check in, due to fire detector problem, had to call for help to fix alarming detectors, stayed at friends house for a few hours during the maintenance. Only one kitchen trash bag available, had to purchase, garage door opener hidden in computer desk, didn't find until checking out. House itself was clean and comfortable, freshly upgraded in a okay neighbor hood. Deposit refund was prompt.

Frustrating VRBO experience with house

We reserved a property for a large family to attend a funeral. The property was not ready due to the previous renters trashed the house. The property manager moved us to another house for one night and was not able to accommodate for the second night. They actually wanted us to go back to the trashed house, that the house cleaner spent from 6 pm to 3 am cleaning and slept in her car for 2 hours! before her next job at 5am. It was really dirty, our family and the parents of the toddlers did not want to return to the house because of the activites what went on in the house before it was cleaned. This decision forced us to stay in a hotel on our second night. I was refunded the fee for one night only, none of the cleaning fees or any of the owners fees. Plus the one night we did stay in this property the charge was double than the daily fee per night on the website. I contacted the property manager and requested a revisit of the fees and asked if there was some consideration on a larger refund. Because a one night stay in a VRBO is not cost effective because of all the fees and other charges. 2 or more days makes it comparable or better than a hotel. We have never had any issues with our stays in VRBO's and hopefully this is a one off situation. It seems the property manager runs to many properties (23 I was told) to be concerned with a single customer and our situation. I would not rent from these VRBO's managers in Sacramento area, and I know I won't be doing it again. It's to bad that VRBO vacation rentals by OWNER, isn't by the owner any more and now we have companies running multiple properties, seems to me to defeat the purpose of this type of service.

Calm oasis

Wow! A beautiful place in a great location!

A large group of us stayed in the house over a weekend and had plenty of room to eat, sleep and move around without feeling crammed together. The house is located with easy access to anywhere you need to go - Target is about 1 mile away, CA-99 is 2 miles away, etc... Everything inside looks new, from appliances to furnishings, even the paint! Organic cotton sheets were on the beds and available for 2 roll-away beds and/or 2 futons. The towels were thick and super soft, just like each of the bathroom rugs. There was a good assortment of kitchen supplies, which is a nice change from most other house rentals we’ve stayed. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it highly to each of my friends. The neighborhood is clean and quiet, and we felt very safe. Parking was available in the driveway, the garage or the street. The owners were pleasant to work with and didn’t seem bothered with me texting or calling with questions about check-in. All of the people in our group raved over this house, it’s ammenities, location and decor. Stay here, you will be happy you did! Also, the small backyard is incredible! So nice of a place to unwind from a long drive without hearing the highway sounds or loud neighbors. There’s just not enough space to tell you how great of a place this is...you’ll need to see it for yourself! Yes, we really will stay here again if we get the chance to race in Sacramento each year.

Contemporary, comfortable, well appointed!

The Sunny House was offered to us after our first choice came under repair. However, what a pleasant surprise as the home was recently renovated; contemporary design, tasteful, extremely comfortable, and very well outfitted for guests. Very clean, in a quiet neighborhood. Kitchen was welll equipped with new appliances, glasses and dishware. Linens were all new and plentiful. Lovely outdoor patio area. Terrific for families. Would recommend your serious consideration of this property. Contributed to a great stay in Sacramento!
