The location, service and staff were excellent. We were sad that the hotel was obviously in urgent need of some major renovation. Breakfasts were brilliant and staff advice on local amenities was very helpful. Again sad that there was a bar but no service and it was open to non residents but not sure why.

The George Hotel was wonderful.
It was wonderful. Sally was the best at the front desk. We stayed in the Queen Elizabeth room and the town was delightful. We loved the room and wonderful Christmas atmosphere.

On the other side of the river, but easily walkable to Mermaid St, High st. and other Rye attractions. The cooked breakfast is of a high standard. This was our second visit to River Haven and the Expedia rate for the family room was v. welcome.

Excellent position
This hotel is ideally placed to visit Rye without having to negotiate the tiny streets of the old town. It is a very short walk away with good parking. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean though the carpet is a bit worn. You need to be careful in the shower in the bath as it is easy to slip - maybe a shower mat could be provided. The towels were very good - large and thick. The cooked breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Friendly and clean Hotel. Would recommend.
Hotel was easy to find and on a plus side had somewhere to park. The receptionist made me feel very welcome. Room was spacious and clean. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast adequate. Good choice of food. Would definitely stay again.

Disappointed
The actual hotel wasn’t too bad but our bedroom was not good! We were given room 20 & it was horrible. It was filthy, there was thick dust all along the skirting boards, the shower was dirty inside the doors. The furniture was old & tired. There were nails hanging out of the walls. We walked past the room next door when we checked out & the door was wide open, we could see the room was in much better condition than ours was, the decor was better & the furniture was newer! We didn’t think we got Value for money at all.

Good stay, some improvements would make it better
I would give this hotel about 3 out of 5 stars in total. Our stay was absolutely fine and no real problems but we have definitely stayed in better ones. I have some summarised some points below. -There were no spaces in the car park for me so I just left my car next to some stairs in the car park and luckily didn’t get made to move it and pay somewhere. -We had to give our room key in at reception when going out for the evening and collect it on our return which seemed really weird to me! Never had to do this at a hotel before, but fine it wasn’t a massive problem. The staff were all lovely, very polite and friendly. -The room was in need of updating, there were holes in the walls, very outdated decor and bed sheets and a lack of lighting. We normally both have a plug socket either side of the bed to charge our phones overnight, this wasn’t the case with our room here, which again wasn’t a big deal but a little touch that could be improved on. -If they pumped a little money into the place it could be a more comfortable stay. -This was the cheapest option for us to stay for one night somewhere close enough to walk into the town where all of the restaurants and bars are. -I would book this hotel again if it came up cheapest out of those in this location.

My stay has been delightful with friendly staff and guests. The bed was really comfy which made for contented rests. All my questions answered and requests fullfilled. Directions and advice; my worries stilled. If I'm in this area again another year I'd be very happy to book my stay here.

Ok. But I wouldn't return.
Good size room but in need of updating. Breakfast and Service were very good, but bed was extremely uncomfortable. Location wax very convenient, no more than 10 mins walk from anywhere. We got a goid deal on the room, but I woukd br disappointed if I paid full price.
