Tucked into the forest on the banks of a Lapland river, Aurora Riverside Cabin is a beautiful traditional log cabin made for those who come to Finland for its nature, its silence, and the possibility of the Northern Lights dancing overhead. This is the real thing — a peaceful wilderness retreat where the forest begins at the garden`s edge and the river murmurs just beyond the birch trees.

The living room is the heart of the cabin: a soaring pine-panelled space built around a magnificent natural stone fireplace that actually works — something increasingly rare in holiday rentals and a true highlight of any stay. Light the fire on a winter evening, settle into the sofa, and let Lapland do the rest. On a clear night, step outside to the garden and look up; the skies here are some of the finest in Finland for spotting the Northern Lights. A TV and WiFi are available when needed, but the fireplace tends to win the evening.

The master bedroom has a 160 cm double bed. Above the living area, the loft sleeps two or three on a 160 cm mattress and an 80 cm mattress — a firm favourite with children and anyone who loves falling asleep beneath the rafters. A third bedroom with an 80 cm single bed accommodates one more guest. The kitchen is fully equipped for home cooking, and the dining table seats the whole group comfortably.

The larger bathroom includes a shower and a traditional Finnish sauna; a smaller separate WC with a basin is also available. Linen and towels are included in the price.

Outside, the lawn stretches to the riverbank where birch trees frame beautiful views across the water. A short 200-metre walk through the forest leads to a lake where the ice is safe to walk on in winter — ideal for a quiet Arctic morning. Please note that guests must not venture onto the river ice under any circumstances. A husky park is just 500 metres away on foot — husky safaris and sledding experiences are available nearby with advance booking, and we are happy to help arrange this for you.

Children can run freely in the garden, evenings are best spent warming by the fire, and the forest is always just a step away.

Guests must not walk on the river ice. The frozen lake approximately 200 metres away on foot is safe to walk on in normal winter conditions.
