Helen’s Hens 2024

From start to finish and everything in between Lisa and her beautiful Cortijo were amazing! The house is stunning, in a beautiful setting with every possible extra covered from hairdryers to pool umbrellas from spacious bathrooms to sandwich toasters! However the star of the show is Lisa! She helped me plan my best friend’s Hen Weekend organising airport transfers, cooking amazing tapas, finding me someone to teach salsa and then recommending the talented Eliza to sing for us whilst we ate an incredible plate of paella. Lisa, words can’t thank you and Julian enough. From the bottom of my heart you are one in a million Xx

Encore merci à la propriétaire La paella était excellente Le seul soucis c’est qu’on nous précise 5 SDB et en fait il n’y en a que 3 (sans l’annexe) et aussi à préciser que l’eau n’est pas potable A par ça un excellent séjour s as vécu de belles randonnées à faire Le village de Comares est juste magnifique Encore merci pour tout

Easter in Riogordo

We were a group of 17 ages ranged from 7-46! A fabulous time of fun and laughter had here…plenty of room and the pool and fire pit were winners all round! The proximity and location of the house to the local villages eg comares and the beach was perfect!

Preciosos días en familia

Espacioso, con encanto, con preciosas vistas. Cocina, salón y espacios exteriores amplios para compartir cada momento del día con la familia. Nosotros somos deportistas e hicimos varias rutinas deportivas que fueron bastante intensas, favorecidas especialmente por la amplitud y el desnivel del terreno. Pudimos colgar los TRX, jugar al pim pon, etc Hemos disfrutado muchos estos días, ha estado genial!! gracias

A fantastic house in a remarkable location.

Renting this house was an incredible experience. A peaceful and unforgettable location. Communication was outstanding through the renting process. We came with a group of 13 adults and 6 children and never felt crammed. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks Lisa and Julian!

Cortijo Cuscurro in September 2019

The property is truly stunning. Amazing views all round from the pool and the hot tub. We used main house cottage and annnex and it easily accomodated our 13 people. The facilities really are first class, all the bed rooms are stunning full of character and well looked after. The best room is the master bedroom in the main house with a lovely ensuite and its own balcony (could do with a couch out there to sit on instead of the chairs and some lighting). The kitchen is big enough to prepare all the communal meals with plenty of fridge space. There are 2 amazing communal areas one in the shade to the side of the house and we ate there most nights (including BBQ) on the large table. The other is by the pool and hot tub. We had amazing weather and if I could I would still be swimming in that Pool every morning =) The pool is large and has easy access. The hot tub is next to the pool and it is worth having although it cost extra over and above the original cost which surprised us but on balance it was definitely worth the money! Julien was very helpful and friendly and popped in a couple of times to talk us through the facilites. Lisa was great via emails for prebooking questions too. One thing you need your own car to get to this property as it is deep in the mountains. All in all this is a stunning villa and you will not be disappointed. Best holiday ever! We will definitely go back 😁😁😁

Beautiful house and location

This is a lovely house located in the mountains with a lovely scenic view. The house is spacious and very rustic and beautiful- really feels like Spain. The pool is truly nice! Lisa is very easy to get in contact with and very helpful:)

5/5 experience!

Our group of 14 adults stayed at Cortijo Cuscurro for a long weekend in May 2019 for a birthday celebration, and it is a stay to remember. Apart from the weather being perfect during our stay (it was not too hot but warm enough, and the nature surrounding the villa was beautiful), the villa fully met our expectations and needs. There was plenty of space for all of us to sleep comfortably, cook, eat and stay by the pool. The villa was clean and provided us everything we needed: from towels and kitchen supplies to a pool and a jacuzzi. The location is secluded and maybe a bit hard to reach, but it suited us and our needs very well. The centre of Riogordo with services was about a 15min drive away. The hosts were extremely helpful, flexible and friendly. They helped us organize transportation from and to Malaga airport, and also rides to the nearby supermarket in Riogordo village, since we didn't have our own car. We also organized a paella demonstration together with the host, and the paella was delicious! If we had some issues, questions or concerns regarding the villa, the hosts were very responsive and available. Our whole group would warmly recommend Cuscurro, since the overall experience was definitely 5/5. We are possibly even thinking about coming back next year :) Thank you Lisa and Julian!

Excellent house

A great house for a stay with friends and/or family. The house is well equiped with everything you need. Outside facilities are excellent with different spaces to meet everybody's needs.The location is also great with lots of good walks in the area. Internet connection does not always work effectively, but owners are always willing to help if you need something or have a problem.

Beautiful location and property. Poor management

This is a beautiful, interesting and spacious property in a stunning location. Three generations of my family recently spent a week here to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. Overall, we enjoyed the week but our stay was significantly impaired by the owners' poor management of the property. Firstly, the property is extremely difficult to find. The directions we were given by the owner was to use google maps from the airport. The problem is that google maps recognizes treacherous little unpaved tracks as roads. Two of my sisters were separately directed by google maps down extremely dangerous dirt roads with steep drops at the side. The owners owe it to their guests to provide clear and safe directions to the property. They also should have signs on the last mile or two of tiny roads leading to the house. Other rental property's in the area had signposts but there were absolutely none for this one. During our stay we encountered a number of electrical, plumbing and heating problems and none of them were resolved satisfactorily. The list of problems were: 1. The Jacuzzi didn't heat up. 2. Various family members were getting electrical shocks from simple appliances such as a toaster and a fan. Apparently, this was related to the malfunctioning jacuzzi. 3. The kitchen sink was clogged and mostly remained so despite our various efforts to unclog it. 4. There were not enough heaters. Some of the rooms didn't have any heater and our requests for additional heaters were unmet. Some handymen/electricians were sent out to look at these problems but none of them were fixed. It turns out the owner was on a cruise while we were there and while she had a local friend designated to address problems, the friend (who was very nice) was not very familiar with the property and didn't know how to fix anything or even who to call to fix things. My family was quite disappointed that we never got to use the jacuzzi and it was quite frustrating to have to deal with a clogged kitchen sink and cold bedrooms all week. We still had a really nice week despite the management issues but I really couldn't recommend anyone to stay here under the current ownership.

Wonderful spacious property set in a breathe taking location

Hosts Lisa and Julian cannot do enough to ensure that your stay is one to remember. Lovely clean spacious villa with great amenities and superb wifi. Loved it! Will book again!

The Villa was to a good standard. The Owners were very professional and provided us with all the information we needed. The only thing I didn't like was the Villa was far from children's activities and roads were too narrow and found it difficult to drive. Because of the heat there were too many lizards coming into the villa which I was afraid of. However everything else was top notch

15 of us had a great stay at Cortijo Cuscurro. Check in and check out was all very easy and Lisa was on hand if we had any questions. I would definitely recommend the paella, it was well worth it!

Beautiful villa, perfect for a big group of friends and family

We came here as a group of eleven family and friends. The huge villa had plenty of space for a large group to relax and spend time. Beautiful character, decor and views - the location is quite remote but this adds to the character! In particular the pool area and patio area were great places for the group to spend time. Lisa was really helpful in advance of our visit in recommending activities and transport as well as arranging a food and drink shop.
