«The food in the restaurant was first class and the staff were friendly and always helpful»

«We had cabin 1 and it was great. Hot tub, wood, everything was lovely and well thought out. Everything you need was there»

«Hyggelig personale, god mat og trivelige omgivelser!»

«A1. Very good.»

«Hadde en fint opphold i vakre Kendal. Hotellet ligger sentralt til ved jernbanen, og med gangavstand til Kendal Castle, sentrum og idyllisk plassert ved elven.»

«Hyggelig personale og veldig god mat. Rommet, og i særdeleshet badet var lite, til å være et superior room til nesten 2000 for natten. Senga var god, men dyna var klumpete og tung og ga derfor en urolig natt. »

«The toilet was very small which was difficult for us but otherwise everything was good. Breakfast was delicious and the room was perfectly clean.»

«Of course the setting is the main attraction. The hotel is is a beautiful, grand, rural home, set by the lake, so its location and views are exceptional. The hotel is a bit quirky and creaky as you would expect but some areas are tired and not as clean as they could be, sadly. The staff were polite and efficent enough but not especially engaging. That said we didnt really need anything, so our interactions were limited»

«Manglet overmadrass på seng, manglet hårføner, manglet kleshengere på rommet. Litt grelt lys, savnet leselampe. Dårlig lukt i respsjonen, kanskje kloakk? Frokosten var lttt sparsom. Savnet syltetøy og yoghurt Ellers ok.»

«Traffic right outside window made it impossible to sleep, and old hotel with window that won't close doesn't make it better. Stay at home or bring a tent.»

«As a first time visitor to the Borrowdale Gates Hotel I have to say what a wonderful experience. The location was perfect with access to many hiking trails. The staff were pleasant and very attentive to our needs, the facilities including the restaurant were excellent, serving very high quality food. After spending several days at the Hotel I am convinced we will be returning. From two happy customers.»

«First we were given a room that hadn't been cleaned but this was quickly sorted and we were switched to another room. However, it was so damp as to be unfit for use, particularly as my wife is asthmatic. The damp odour and poor atmosphere both in the room and the corridor meant we decided to leave and went to an another hotel. The evidence of damp was so obvious as to beg the question why the hotel management felt it appropriate to book out the room.»

«Wonderful staff, perfect large bedroom, excellent breakfast and evening meal. Faultless. Credit to the owners.»
