«Beautiful location, clean rooms, seaview and beachview from the room and balcony. Best value for money, and extremely friendly staff. They arranget the best prices on the beach for scooter rental, and they reduced the price for brekfast by 90%. I did encounter a broken window that wouldnt close. But their extremely handy staff fixed in in a minute, with a big smile on their face! The hotel is suitable for both families, couples and friends. I really want to come back here.»

«I left my heart in Talalla Retreat. Incredible staff who were so welcoming and hard working, the Retreat itself is stunning. I had an upstairs bedroom so was able to fully enjoy the surroundings. The food was incredible. I felt super safe. I didn’t want to leave. A must visit - and please do as the Sri Lankan people need visitors right now. »

The rooms are ok, but not nearly as good as i would expect from a hotel in this price-range. Rooms are big, but feel very cold with the stone floor and walls, and no furniture besides a bed, a closet and a small table (all look quite old). It really is the best hotel on Mawella beach (and maybe even in whole of southern province :) The hotel is beautifully and tastefully decorated, the staff are super friendly, including owner Xander, it's absolutely right on the beach , the food is great. «Overall stay was good. However, the bathrooms are visible inside the room. Not recommended for a family to stay inside the room. I kindly suggest to put up curtains or a blurred glass to have privacy. Also, the balconies are connected to each room with a sliding door which is kind of unnecessary i feel.
