Since we arrived early, our intention was to leave our bags and explore the area, but he did not explain the no-shoes policy and came across as rude, which was a bit uncomfortable. We were offered a free ride to nearest train station when we left, which was great. The only thing that was a little strange and which we have never experienced in Japan, was that we were not allowed to enjoy any drink or food we brought with us. There was no mention of this on the booking, only after we had arrived.»
