Nydelig året ferie hjemme på Narragansett Bay, som ligger i sjarmerende Portsmouth på Aquidneck Island. Dette hjemmet tilbyr fantastiske, stadig skiftende, utsikt over fjorden; Mt. Håper Bridge, Bristol Harbor, Hog Island fyrtårn og panoramautsikt solnedganger. Med denne nautiske stylet huset, får følelsen av å være fast i kapteinens kvartalene uten å måtte forlate kysten. Dette hjemmet tilbyr luksus av en Chef kjøkken; 36 "Wolf Range, fullt utstyrt med store potter å koke hummer eller en New England musling koke. The house is in a spectacular location and is every inch a well cared stay. I was greeted warmly with a tour of the home. Thoughtful amenities were left for our enjoyment. The week passed quickly with the view ever changing. Looking forward to returning next year as this was an ideal stay. Loved it!

This was our third stay at Jan and John’s beautiful property. The views are spectacular even during a nor’easter as we had a front row seat to the storm. As always Jan has thought of every comfort and convenience from plenty of plush towels to extremely comfortable bedding, and even providing snacks and drinks for our arrival. We didn’t even feel the need to leave the house. This is our favorite rental in Portsmouth and we will definitely be returning for our fourth stay.

It was wonderful to wake up by the ocean each morning, and we were lucky to have beautiful weather all week. Jan greeted us upon arrival, gave an informative tour, left some snacks/beverages for our enjoyment, and made suggestions for restaurants and places to see. Jan was an amazing hostess. The personal touches were so appreciated with rich toiletries, beverages, and an abundance of supplies. John did a fantastic job with the architecture, and the furnishings were perfect for a bay-side home. The steam shower felt so relaxing too. I can’t wait to go back. Our Home Away From Home – A Waterfront Gem We Return To Year After Year

This was our fourth time staying at this magical spot—and it won’t be our last. From the moment we first found this home, nestled right on the water with a rear deck that gives you front-row seats to the most breathtaking sunsets, we knew we’d found something truly special. What started as a search to replace a longtime family timeshare in Newport turned into a new tradition—one that my wife and I now look forward to every single year.The home is immaculate, beautifully cared for, and full of thoughtful, nautical charm—from the striking mast that anchors the lofted master bedroom to the expansive windows that bring the bay right into your living space. It’s clear the owner pours their heart into maintaining and honoring this home.The communication is always top-notch. We’ve built a wonderful rapport with the host over the years—chatting throughout the year about our upcoming stays—and at this point, they genuinely feel like an extension of our family.Some of our favorite moments include gathering sea glass just steps from the deck during low tide, and sitting together in the evening, watching the sun melt into the horizon. We also had a few friends come stay with us during this trip, and they were just as enchanted as we always are.If you’re looking for a peaceful, waterfront escape filled with character, beauty, and that rare feeling of home, this is the place. Just don’t book the week we go—we’re already counting down the days until next year!

Perfect Every Year

We return to the Shore House year after year, because it’s a rare find that does not compare to any others we’ve visited. There are no negatives whatsoever. The property is well-maintained and the view is spectacular. The upscale house is solid, stylish, and comfortable, with modern kitchen and baths, as well as many amenities not found elsewhere. The hosts are accommodating and just wonderful. We cant imagine a RI visit without staying at the Shore House!

Paradise

We love it so much here. The hosts are wonderful and always helpful. If peace, quiet, and beauty are what you're looking for in a vacation home, this is it. It's also strategically located within easy driving distance of Newport, Bristol, Warren and many other fun places, as well as nature reserves, beaches, etc. There are a couple of great grocery stores nearby as well. We are already planning our next stay.

Perfect Hosts & Home!

We cannot say enough about our stay in Portsmouth. The house had everything we needed and more— it was so clean and spotless with the best views imaginable. Couldn't ask for more

My husband and I stayed four nights for a much needed break and to catch some of the fall foliage. Jan & John's house was just amazing! Everything we could want for a vacation home. To sit and watch the bay and take in the tranquility of the sights and sounds is amazing. The house itself is so thoughtful in design. Heated floors, steam shower, high quality appliances. To top it off, Jan & Jean are incredible hosts. We arrived after a long day of flying and driving, to have Jan meet us and walk us through the nuances of the house. They had wonderful treats waiting for us as well. The location is close to Newport as well as the charming town of Bristol. The only challenge we had was deciding whether to go out and explore or stay in and enjoy this incredible home. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Sister’s Trip Paradise

My sister, and I have a trip every October. I think this may have been our best trip yet! Jan and John were such wonderful hosts. They went to so much trouble to have the beautiful house stocked with special treats, and just everything you could want or need. On our arrival Jan welcomed us and took us on a tour of the amazing house! She had bought us each a delicious piece of carrot cake, special cheeses and wine. It was just the extra special niceties that mean so much. We couldn’t decide which room to sit in because the scenery is so beautiful. You can see the water, boats, and lovely bridge from every room. Because it was October, the leaves were beautiful for sight seeing! It was hard to get out to do a lot because the house was so perfect. There’s plenty to do, and places to go, but it’s also nice just staying inside! I really could go on and on, but just believe all the great reviews on here! Our plan is to return next year! We can’t wait! Thank you Jan and John!

The pictures don’t do this properly justice! The views are stunning from every room, and the architecture and design of this home is superb. Jan has thought of everything and the attention to details was appreciated. We had the good fortune to see fireworks and many beautiful sunsets. Another wonderful stay at the Shore House

This is a beautiful home directly on Narragansett Bay. You feel like you are on a ship. Fabulous sunsets, clamming and swimming. This was our eighth straight summer visit. God willing we will be back next year for season nine. Jan Hanks is a caring hostess and can’t do enough for you.

Waterfront Home Away From Home

The property was stunning as it is every year. My wife and I have made this a yearly tradition as we fell in love with the house on our first visit. Check in and out is easy and makes you feel like you’re visiting family, as the hosts have made us feel like we are an extension to their family. We spend time during low tide to search for sea glass, shells, and rocks. We were blessed this year to have friends join us for a few days of our vacation. They were so excited with the luxurious look and feel of the property and the spacious guest bedroom. Even on rainy days you feel as though the sun shines upon you as you take in the views of the ocean waves through the expansive windows facing the water. The host has gathered a binder with lots of things that you can do/visit nearby on your stay but with how relaxing our stay was, most days we just wanted to stay home and enjoy the view and swim in the water just outside the back door. If you have an opportunity to stay here I would take it, You will not be disappointed!!!

The Shore House-Stunning!

Year after year we return to this property. It is on a prime piece of real estate, with quiet views of the bay, lighthouse, fishing boats, birds, wildlife, the Mount Hope Bridge, and Hog Island in the distance! The house has absolutely anything you would need. The location is a short driving distance to many attractions, perfect for day trips! We are always sorry to leave! Jan does a phenomenal job maintaining the best accommodations in the area! LOVE THIS HOUSE!

Absolutely fantastic place!

My husband and I stayed for six nights and another couple joined us for the second half of our stay. This place is even better than it looks in the pics online! Everything is so comfortable and there are so many thoughtful touches throughout the home, such as really nice toiletries, yummy snacks, current issues of Rhode Island magazine, and a great set of binoculars, just to name a few. The hosts not only designed the home well, with a great kitchen and bathrooms, they have furnished it well with really comfy beds and seating areas. I loved waking up with the natural light pouring in in the mornings from all four directions through the big, beautiful windows upstairs and I loved going to sleep at night seeing the Mt. Hope bridge lit up at night! The location is wonderful because the house itself is on this lovely, quiet spot right on Naragansett Bay, so if you just want peace and quiet and to sit and watch the birds on the water, you can do that. It's also a great location because you're so close to so many interesting places. Newport is about 25 minutes away with all of its historic mansions from the Gilded Age, Bristol and Warren are even closer with their cute shops and great restaurants, and Fall River, MA, is about 15 minutes away for those who want to tour Battleship Cove. The hosts are a true pleasure to work with and just so kind! I felt like I had spent time at a wonderful five-star hotel, I was so relaxed! We were sorry to leave and can't wait to go back!
