Hotel was clean. Shower was very weak and hot water took ages to come through. Lots of things needed minor repairs which was a bit disappointing. Door handle to bathroom. Light hanging off wall above bed. Handle on sliding door. Was ok but felt a little unloved.

Comfortable and well appointed.
The staff were welcoming and the room clean an well appointed. Good bathroom with plentiful hot water in the wet space shower. The room was at the from of the hotel and had a great view of Southsea common. However, the road outside was busy and consequently the room was noisy up until 0100. The publicity for the Q8 Hotel should be clearer that breakfast is not available on site. Unfortunately the bistro where breakfast would have been served was closed for refurbishment. Fortunately, there were plenty of good independent establishments nearby in Palmerston Road where a good breakfast could be had.

There is no elevator so you have to carry your suitcase up to four flights of stairs unassisted. There are no views from the rooms, only a sign warning you to keep the window closed as they “have a problem with bird poop” There is no air conditioning, fridge, hair dryer or ironing board The rooms are very small and the bed and pillows were hard and lumpy

Over-all stay quite good, not exceptional.
We booked the park view superior room for about 45% off (The AFTERNOON/EVENING receptionits was soooo nice and very professional! She even gave us a map/magazine of Portsmouth with great tips, directions and recommendations. Thank you so much!) The MORNING RECEPTIONIST was the one that put me off during our stay. I won’t elaborate but the “extra attention” she gave my boyfriend made the rest of my stay uneasy and uncomfortable. It’s actually an amazing hotel except for a few issues— the door to the bathroom is a sliding door, and it was incredibly hard to slide as it was too stiff. Same goes for the door to the room— it’s not sliding but it was very hard to push open or shut. My boyfriend says the lights are too bright, but for me it’s OK. Also, his side of the bed does not have a bedside table. Continental breakfast at £5.50– not enough options especially if you have special dietary needs (i.e. diabetes). Location is incredibly good— close to shops and the D-day Experience, Clarence Pier, Southsea Castle, and bus stop to city centre. Dockyards and Gunwharf Quays is about a 15-minute bus ride.

Nous avions reservé une chambre pour trois avec notre fille de 13 ans. Avec le lit d'appoint et nos bagages il était difficile de circuler dans la chambre. Une seule table de nuit. Salle de bain propre mais pas très grande. Cafetière symbolique. TV pas très grande.

Other than the toilet refusing to flush away the paper, the room and hotel was very nice, a lighter duvet during the summer would be ideal, the room was very warm but fans were available, nice to open the patio door.

Hotel was good. Staff were helpful. Location is excellent. If you struggle to carry a heavy case ask for a room on lower floor level. There is no lift and no reception cover at night. As I was leaving at 6.30 am I asked for help with my suitcase on departure from reception and no help was forthcoming. I asked again. From the evening receptionist and he was very helpful, although stated that as there is no one on duty overnight was not possible so I was moved to a room on the first floor, resulting in me only carrying heavy case down one flight of stairs. Could be a problem for some.

Good hotel but…….
While the service and cleanliness were great the window in the room would not close properly and thus had a constant whistling sound throughout the two nights as it was windy outside. We informed the front desk and then sent them a video of the noise through email which we received no response. Great location as it is central to Southsea and the D-Day museum.
