"Maritim Hotel Bellevue Kiel sits right on the water, and from the balcony you get a front-row seat to ferries and sailboats drifting across the fjord — a view that’s worth the stay on its own.
But what really won me over was the interior. The seventies maritime aesthetic isn’t something you stumble across much anymore, and that’s exactly what made it so wonderfully welcome — dark wood veneer, brass details, patterned carpets, striped upholstery. It felt like stepping onto a beautifully preserved ocean liner from another era. Rather than feeling dated, it read as genuinely characterful: warm, nostalgic, and refreshingly exotic compared to the sea of identical minimalist hotels everywhere else.
If you’re after something with real personality instead of another beige, glass-and-concrete box, this is it. I’d go back in a heartbeat."
