Welcome to Linden Lodge, located within the exclusive Ashdown Retreat development at Galtres Retreat & Lodge Park on the outskirts of Pickering. Boasting a host of amenities, this luxury two-bedroom lodge has been equipped to a high standard which will appeal to discerning guests looking for a higher level of space and comfort.



The Space:

Airy and spacious, Linden Lodge has been thoughtfully designed to ensure you have an enjoyable and relaxing stay, whether you’re a family of six or a group of friends.



The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare your meals, including an air fryer, oven/grill, induction hob, fridge/freezer, kitchen scales, microwave, kettle and toaster. A full “Denby” dinner service and quality cutlery make for pleasurable eating at the dining table. With seating for up to six people, it’s an ideal space to entertain friends.



After a long day exploring the many attractions of Yorkshire, unwind in the comfortable living area with its two plush settees, one of which is a sofa bed for two guests, and watch your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. A compendium of family games is also provided for your entertainment.



The lodge has two bedrooms: the large master bedroom with a comfortable king-sized bed and a spacious second bedroom with two comfortable, full size single beds. With hypoallergenic bedding and hotel quality pillows, you’re sure to get a good night’s sleep. There is a walk-in wardrobe off the master bedroom and both rooms offer ample clothes storage space for your convenience.



The well-appointed shower-room is equipped with a walk-in shower, sink, toilet and plenty of storage space for toiletries.



The master bedroom’s ensuite bathroom is similarly luxurious and has a bath with overhead shower, sink, toilet and storage space. Towels and linen are provided for your stay, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable visit.



If you do need to catch up on some office work, you’ll appreciate the desk area in the entrance lobby with USB sockets to charge your devices. There’s also plenty of storage available for files or paperwork.



Sit and relax on the large south-facing deck and watch the sunrise or sunset whilst sipping a coffee or perhaps a glass of wine. It’s not unusual to see deer grazing in the early morning close to the lodge, before they disappear back into the woods. Altogether, a delightful place to unwind.



Guest Access:

Guests have access to the full lodge.



The keys to Linden Lodge are accessed via a key safe box, and full details will be provided prior to check-in.



Private on-site parking is available for two vehicles. Visitor parking is also available.



Up to two small, medium well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay at Linden Lodge per reservation.

The Neighborhood:

Galtres Retreat & Lodge Park is a peaceful and scenic destination a mile from Pickering within the stunning North York Moors National Park. It's a great spot for a relaxing holiday or getaway, offering a mix of tranquillity and access to a variety of outdoor activities.



Pickering is a charming historic market town with a wealth of attractions, scenic beauty, and quintessential Yorkshire charm. Known as the 'Gateway to the Moors', this vibrant town offers a blend of heritage, local culture, and outdoor adventure, making it an ideal destination for holidaymakers.



Pickering is rich in history with its 12th-century motte-and-bailey castle which offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, known for its rare medieval wall paintings, adds a unique insight into the history of the area.



Just a short drive from Pickering, Dalby Forest is a great centre for forest walks, cycling, mountain biking and family-friendly outdoor activities. The forest has several marked trails, including the “Owl Trail” which is perfect for families with young children.



Pickering is the starting point for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR), a heritage railway that travels through the picturesque countryside of the National Park. The train stops in scenic locations like Levisham, Goathland (the famous "Hogsmeade" station in Harry Potter), and Whitby. This is a must-do for railway enthusiasts and those who enjoy classic steam trains.



Getting Around:

Linden Lodge is within easy reach of Castle Howard, Yorkshire Arboretum and York using the Park and Ride at Monks Cross.



A half-hour drive takes visitors to some of North Yorkshire’s stunning coastal towns, including Whitby and Scarborough, where sandy beaches, historic sites, and scenic cliff walks await.



Pickering Railway Station is the closest railway station to Galtres Retreat & Lodge Park linking Pickering and Whitby.

Malton (about 8 miles away) is the closest station on the national rail network. There are local buses or taxi services to Pickering.



The 840 bus runs between Pickering and Helmsley, passing through the North York Moors National Park. The 595 bus connects Pickering to Malton and Scarborough, providing wider access to public transport options.



While public transport is accessible, having a car is ideal for exploring the wider area at your own pace, particularly for visiting more remote spots within the North York Moors or Whitby.
