2/10 – Forferdelig

I had a very disappointing experience at Sofitel Philadelphia that completely changed my view of the brand. I booked a two-night stay (Friday–Sunday) through Expedia fully intending to stay both nights. A day before arrival, I learned a major snowstorm/blizzard was forecast to start very early Sunday morning into Monday. To avoid train cancelations and driving in a blizzard for three hours, I communicated that I would need to modify my reservation to leave on Saturday after one night.
Expedia tried contacting the hotel before my arrival but couldn’t reach the team responsible for handling this. I was told the hotel understood and would coordinate with Expedia. I also communicated this to the front desk, who claimed they understood, but their interactions were dismissive and unfriendly,
During my stay, I brought business to the hotel, hosting a large group for drinks Friday night and a party of 4 for breakfast Saturday morning.
When no refund was issued, I had Expedia follow up with them. The hotel then claimed I had checked out on Sunday, which is completely false and upsetting. I physically checked out on Saturday and made this clear more than once.
While I understand the booking was non-refundable, other nearby hotels issued refunds to all my friends due to the storm. Sofitel was the only one refusing flexibility or consideration. I stayed here the month prior and enjoyed it, and I had planned to return often this year. Unfortunately, this experience changed that.
