Avoid Les Refuge at all costs. They say check in starts at 5pm but that’s also when their customer service closes. I went in just before in case there was problems and thank goodness I did. The floor was full of dirt, the garbage was overflowing with beer cans, wine bottles on the kitchen island. The sink was clogged with rotting food and all the beds were a mess. I called reception just as they were about to close and Nicole was very unsympathetic, she did send a cleaning crew who were lovely and arrived promptly. I asked to speak to a manager and was told on Sunday there is no manager. This being a ski resort we were in full ski gear and had to leave to the town while they cleaned. That’s when I was notified the kitchen sink was such a mess a plumber needed to come. So I rushed back to make sure I was there. We didn’t get to use the unit until 8pm. Things got worse at night. The thermostat was broken and always read 13 degrees C. Which caused the heat to be in overdrive and the radiator was under the bed! We woke up at 2am sweating and had to sleep on the sofa with the windows open. The next morning I was able to speak to the GM Daniel who was amazing. He was apologetic, moved us to the chalet Foret which was a game changer and refunded 1.5 nights. That was my first impression of Massif and I was ready to leave after night one. The chalet Foret is great and I would come back to these. Avoid the refuge and spend a little more at the chalet Foret. Again thank you Daniel!
