I stayed at Tokachigawa Moor Onsen Seijyakubow for two nights. I had high expectations for this stay, having booked nearly a year in advance via Expedia.
While there were highlights, the experience was marred by a significant operational oversight. Six months prior to my arrival, I specifically requested to change my dinner to Teppanyaki for the second night. Unfortunately, the staff missed this request entirely. They only contacted me a few days before my trip to inform me that Teppanyaki was only available for my first night due to lack of availability. For a high-end establishment, this level of administrative negligence was disappointing.
Regarding the facilities, while the guest rooms and the reception lobby were immaculate and beautifully maintained, the private onsen area needs more attention. There was a noticeable odor in the shower section, and I observed mold in the grout between the tiles. This suggests the cleaning staff needs to be more thorough.
On a positive note, the culinary experience was outstanding. Both the Teppanyaki and the Kaiseki meals were well above standard and truly delicious. The staff were also very apologetic regarding the booking error, which I appreciated.
I sincerely hope the management can improve their reservation tracking and deep cleaning processes. With these improvements, Seijyakubow has the potential to become the premier hotel in the Tokachigawa Onsen area.
