We recently stayed at this 4-bedroom, 2-bath house on the inlet in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. While the location itself is beautiful—right on the inlet with a dock and just a short walk to the beach—the condition of the house left much to be desired.
Unfortunately, the home was not clean upon arrival, and we encountered several major issues during our stay. The central air conditioning didn’t work, which made the house very uncomfortable in the summer heat. The rental company did respond by bringing window units for each bedroom, which helped somewhat, but didn’t resolve the underlying issue.
The house is in serious need of updates and repairs. Electrical outlets are dangerously outdated—most won’t hold a charger, and plugging in a fan in the downstairs living area caused the power to trip and all lights to go out. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, sagging in the middle, and one bed frame actually fell apart during our stay.
The kitchen was poorly stocked, and the cookware that was available was in such bad shape it was basically unusable. Definitely bring your own if you plan to cook.
Major mold in one bathroom in corner of floor. Window in front room has rotten wood frame.
While we appreciated the dock and the proximity to the beach, these features couldn’t make up for the overall lack of upkeep and basic functionality in the home. Until major upgrades and repairs are made, I would not recommend this property.
