«Interesting old manor. Guests can wander through the gardens and beautiful old manor rooms. There is a nice swimming pool area in the gardens. The estate produces an excellent white wine. You can preorder diner on most days but there are only 8 guest rooms so there may not be many takers. A car is needed as the estate is out of town. The staff were helpful and friendly. «The hotel is a bit off the beaten path but the amenities of the hotel were what sold us, however the sauna and hot tub were not available, nor were options to look at any of the farm to table process that the website mentions. Room temperature is controlled by staff and our room was HOT! We had asked that it be set cooler but that did not happen so it was hard to get to sleep. With all of that said, the pool area was lovely! The breakfast was incredible and the staff are very lovely.»

«Bien que notre première impression fut plutôt negative, au vu du peu d 'amabilité du patron à l'accueil, ainsi que d' une employée qui était là et ne nous a même pas dit bonjour, nous sommes passés outre et avons passé un bon sejour d une nuit.La patronne, qui parle anglais, a été très sympathique et comme nous avions pris la demie pension , nous avons très bien mangé au restaurant le soir et au petit-déjeuner avec une magnifique vue sur le paysage environnant. «Our stay at Casa do Rio was exceptional. There are 10 rooms with stunning views of the Douro River and vineyards. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated, and we were welcomed with a plate of fresh figs and white port and all ingredients to make portonics.
