Dårlig rengjøring..Til frokost var det dårlig med påfylling av mat,hele tiden manglet det noe..

Bedre enn ventet
Jeg kjente ikke til Newcastle så godt før jeg bestilte, og tenkte hotellet ville være i et boligområde. Det stemte forsåvidt, men det var en del restauranter og pubber der (som stenger kl 11). Det tar ca. 20 min. å gå til sentrum, eller 4-5 å gå til t-banen. Ellers generelt grei standard til prisen.

The only thing we didn't like was our room,it was absolutely roasting even with the heating off and a fan on. We also had to sleep with no covers on it was so warm. Otherwise we have no complaints,the weekend was brilliant and hotel not far from metro station (west jesmond)

Lovely hotel and great value for a large room, well furnished and decorated with quality fittings, only comment is that this is starting to look a bit tired in places, we had room 313 and the shower was coming out of a ragged hole in the ceiling, the flooring was worn through in places and the sink cracked with a loose tap. Minor refurb and a lick of paint and it would be 5 star all the way. Staff efficient and pleasant and free parking a bonus.

My room (414) was directly above the front door of their associated property 'The Carlton Hotel'. The 'soft closer' on the front door was clearly broken as every time someone came in and went out the door slammed shut causing the room to shake. I reported this to reception the following morning and the maintenance guy was also there. I was assured it would be sorted. It wasn't and I had to endure a secong night of being disturbed everytime the door was opened. I again reported it on my departure and also emailed the hotel but not even a reply. Would not stay again as clearly not interested in their guests.

I’ve stayed at the Cairn many times and was always pleased. This time was a little disappointing. We were in a room furthest from reception and the WiFi was awful. We were also next to a fire door which was constantly slamming shut and the room was very small. Positives are the staff, cleanliness and ability to park. NB: We were in the main building, not the old Carlton. I’d still recommend the hotel and stay there again.

We stayed in a room in the Carlton, was large enough for 2, had everything we required ie hairdryer, iron, kettle etc. Had a lovely buffet breakfast in the cairns hotel. Lots of eateries in local area. Handy for metro

We arrived to check in and told we would be staying in the sister hotel over the road . Had no problems with the hotel it was clean safe & quite as we were on the top floor . Considering it was between 2 busy bars we heard no noise at all . Very warm room & plug didn’t work in the bath but for £39 you can’t complain ! We opened the window & had showers .

Well, not for the feint hearted and always read the small print when booking this hotel. I was in a separate building literally above the 2 busiest pubs in the area! But, tbf there was no excessive noise after midnight! I now know why it was cheap, though! The room was functional and clean. I even had a little table where I could do some work. And I could watch footbal from my bedroom window as I could see the outside TV in the pub's garden area. I was still young enough (at 54) to appreciate youngster's enjoying themselves. Newcastle centre was a 30 min walk and was on a direct bus routed. Lovely boutique cafe's and bakery shops close by. Just don't choose this place if you want quiet or are a light sleeper! Biggest gripe was the shower because it had the appalling sweet spot where a millimetre turn on the dial it was freezing cold or piping hot (and I mean piping!).

Ended up staying at the other hotel across the street, the Carlton. Bit of a pain in the ass to carry luggage down the street, then up a bunch of flights and through locked doors. At least the place felt secure for what that’s worth. Service is not great since you have to go back to the other hotel to get anything since there’s no staff at all at the Carlton. There’s no refrigerator in the room so if you have any dietary restrictions this is not the hotel for you. I can’t say anything much about the hotel staff one way or another but when I asks for more hot beverage supplies they were accommodating

Very pleased with the room at this price. Far more spacious and better equipped than anticipated. Large bath/shower room. Plenty of tea , coffee and milk ( unlike many other places ) . We added breakfast to our stay, which was also really very good. Very polite and super-friendly service in the adjoining bar/cafe. No complaints here whatsoever Next time we’re in Newcastle for a night away , this is where we’ll come . Thank you

We were put across the road in the sister hotel and the noise was terrible we were put in a room right up from the bar and the noise was terrible from afternoon till night i think when older people book they should warn them about the noise they gave us earplugs which did not help us at all we were looking for a nice break as i had been in hospital and it was spoiled by all the noise we won’t be back at that hotel

Very basic room, quite stuffy. Very noisy, not from the bar but from people all along the corridor, walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. Limited sleep because of this.

Noisiest hotel in Newcastle :-(
Stayed for a weekend break and booked as it looked great on the website and was in a good location. If it’s a peaceful nights sleep you are looking for, this is not the place for you. Quite possibly the noisiest and rowdiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The rooms look absolutely nothing like the pictures on hotels.com, it wasn’t even in the hotel building itself, but across the street in a noisy building above 2 rowdy bars. Cleanliness I couldn’t fault and the room had a good supply of towels and amenities. Close to West Jesmond Metro. The noise in this hotel absolutely ruined my weekend and I was glad to leave to get some peace and quiet. I wouldn’t ever stay here again. Even when the pubs closed, people continued to party, bang around and scream all night. A terrible terrible disappointment and not worth the money that they charged me.

Don't stay in their newly acquired hotel.
I have stayed at the Cairn quite a few times over the years, for work and pleasure and it was always a great experience, but now they have acquired the Carlton hotel across the road and above a loud pub(Spy Bar), this trip was spoilt by us being placed in this hotel. The rooms were very small, in fact my room had a double bed that I could not walk round because the bottom left side of the bed was right up to the wall, therefore I had to climb over the corner of the bed to get to my side. The newly acquired hotel is a bit run down and had a feeling of overall tattiness. If I couldn't get a guarantee that I would be staying in the original Cairn hotel, I would not book with them again.

The check-in chap was super helpful. The room was modern, clean and well designed. Everything was 100% great. The only slight negative that the parking was limited. The chap on reception was super helpful and sorted me out and all was great. I would 100% stay there again. The parking issue was a tiny blip on what was otherwise a great stay in a super hotel.
