It was an easy walk to Central Park and not too far from the Met. Other attractions are easily reached by subway. On the downside, there aren't many casual dining options nearby. I would have liked a fridge in the room to store some fruit or salads.

Arthouse Hotel is a lovely hotel located in a quiet, but thriving upper west side neighborhood. Close to subway (79th or 72nd), shopping (Niche vintage), restaurants (Miriam), and Central Park. Great management and staff and delicious bakery in lobby. Loved our stay and will return!

Typical NY hotel. Very average service. A functional hotel and not a luxury hotel. Good location and convenient for transport but not particularly clean and furnishings tired - ripped curtains, black hairs found most days in room and limited towels with shower fitting not working properly. No mini bar.

Great location but hotel has gone way down hill especially with the rooms. They need updating, are not cleaned properly, old showers, crumbs & food behind the bed etc. You can hear everything between rooms and very loud. They charge extra for early check in even if it’s an hour before check in, not very accommodating or go above and beyond at the front desk.

There are no towel hooks in the bathroom except for one on the back of the bathroom door. No hand towel bar! We were able to check in early, which was nice, but had to pay $75 extra (the room was already ready). Cleanliness was lacking -- there were crumbs on the floor, cobwebs in the upper corners, and previous guests' hair in the drain. Crumbs were still there, even after housekeeping had been by on the second day, which suggests that the cleaning is not very thorough. We also ran out of shampoo after day 1, and it was not replaced by housekeeping. The shampoo and conditioner and body wash all felt very watered down, and very little dispensed with each pump -- I very much literally needed 70 pumps of conditioner to cover my shoulder-length hair. TVs were outdated (circa 2010 model) with no TV guide (which, maybe you care, maybe you don't, I didn't mind). Elevator made groaning noises and rocked back and forth, which was a little scary. Staff were nice though! And a good number of people seemed to utilize the downstairs café-during-the-day, bar-at-night and common areas each day. Overall, it was a valid place to stay within short walking distance of the subway, and we got our rest, but I can't recommend it.

We liked the lobby pastry shop, the live music, and the copious seating available in the lobby level. We also enjoyed the adjacent Serafina Italian restaurant. We were disappointed with our initial placement(upon registration) in a room that was supposed to be a “standard king” but had a bed that was queen-sized at best. This situation was ultimately resolved by the registration staff but only after they had tried to assert that our tiny first room( arm 526) was, in fact, a “standard king.” Thankfully they accepted our position and reassigned us to a larger room(Rm529) which actually had a king sized bed otherwise a call to our booking agent was imminent. All told this start, including the initial reluctance to redress our situation and then a turnabout which necessitated we move ourselves to another room did make a favorable impression on us. This was overcome by some reasonable registration staff as well as friendly housekeeping staff and other front end staff. The ratings above support this.

My husband and I stayed here for a week while in NYC and had a fabulous time! We especially loved the restaurant options (had delicious pasta at Serafina and fantastic dumplings and curry at Red Farm) and the bakery in the lobby. The proximity to Lincoln Center was also a plus. Staff were friendly and helpful and our room was comfortable both in space and temperature.

I had a high up large room which was wonderful. It was very quiet and had a great view. I arrived late at night and the staff was really fantastic all too willing to print emails scan send emails for me etc. etc. Who out this day the staff Have been better. I also had a Wednesday night where the hotel has a fantastic jazz group. Be sure to book on a Wednesday. They’re really brilliant. !

Saturday morning the female front desk person. 1st did NOT introduce herself just started screaming at me. I tried to explain myself but she just said “I don’t care” she freaked me out so much I didn’t want the free hotel breakfast I just left. Saw the nice cleaning person gave her a tip and left the hotel. I suggest you tell your staff to listen to your paid customers before overreacting!
