Additional rules
BECAUSE WE LOVE OUR GUESTS AND NEIGHBORS, WE WANT EVERYONE TO HAVE A GREAT TIME. THESE RULES ARE FOR THE COMFORT AND SAFETY OF ALL OUR GUESTS.
1) No smoking of ANY kind allowed inside the property, out of windows or close by the entrances. Penalty $250 FEE, asked to leave immediately and no refunds will be issued.
2) No pets allowed. $250 fee per pet, asked to leave immediately and no refunds will be issued.
3) No parties or events allowed. Please note there is an exterior camera recording sound and movement. Quiet time outside on weekdays / weeknights is 9pm-9am and on weekends 10pm-10am.
4) Arrival & departure Check in time is any time after 4pm and check out is anytime prior to 10am.
5) No eating allowed in the bedrooms.
6) No parking or driving on the grass
7) Please remove shoes when inside the home (Unless there is a health issue that prevents this)
8) Be transparent. We ask that you provide the names of all guests that will be staying at the home as part of reservation. Should there be any changes to this list please advise as soon as they are known. We can add additional people to the reservation prior to check in at a rate of $15 pp per night. >>STRICT RULE you are not to have more people in the home than indicated on your reservation. >>We do not allow extra people beyond the people listed on the reservation. If we find that you have broken this rule you will be asked to leave immediately with no refunds issued and or charged a fine of $55 per person per night. This rule is nonnegotiable. There is no charge for infants (Under twelve months) any children over 12 months must be included on your reservation. rules for the type of property.

We came to Middletown for a visit with a destination of playing at Land of Illusion for my son's birthday. The hosts of this home were very thorough in what we can expect from them as well as what is expected of us. Upon arrival, we found a beautiful historical home that was very clean. There were a couple things that I can see improved within the household to make a more pleasant stay for guests. Though the master and queen bedrooms were comfortable, the daybeds with the trundles and the other double bedroom were incredibly noisy and quite uncomfortable. One room you were able to feel the springs in the beds and the other felt like you were sleeping on a wooden slab with a thin mattress pad over it.Some type of water filtration would have been nice to have for drinking water as all that was available was tap. Thankfully it didn't taste bad so we didn't have to go out and buy water.Lastly, we found that several of the outlets, even though a TV and lamps were plugged in, were not functioning. This was an inconvenience in trying to find one that worked for cell phones and a CPAP machine. Ultimately, The Alameda home was nice and with a couple improvements, I would for sure stay again!

Check in was easy, appreciated the light on the front porch on as we arrived when it was pretty dark. The house was clean and the water pressure in the showers was amazing. Didn't expect that in an older home. The kitchen is very nice, very clean. The only suggestion would be ice cube trays and wine glasses. The six of us had a great time, and the front porch was large and enjoyed by all of us.

Stay was enjoyable

The owners were trying to so hard to have everything ready by the time we arrived, but unfortunately that did not happen. They apologized and it was not a big deal. They said there was a big mess left by the last guest. I just appreciate them putting the effort in to get it ready for us. The old style home and feel was great. Loved the layout and the size fit our family size of 7 very well. Bathrooms were excellent and rooms had enough comfort for us all. The welcome book was great! My recommendation is to update the bedding. Several children complained about the feel of the mattresses. Some said the springs could be felt when laying down. The king size bed was to twin bed pushed together (not a big deal) however we had to sleep on the opposite end because the other side made you feel like you were falling into the wall. Would not recommend include adult entertainment in the welcome booklet. Children do look through the book and may ask questions. Fortunately for us, ours are big enough to know. We would absolutely stay again if we could get better mattresses.

Comfortable & Clean

(NOTE: we are rating a different property, not this particular home) Our hostess advised us that we would not be staying at the listed property, and asked if we would relocate to another property of hers. It was closer to our event and conducive to our needs. The property we stayed at was very nice and I would stay there again. There is very much space, 4 bedrooms & 3 Baths. There are some minor maintenance issues and the stench of cigarette smoke. We already advised the owner of the smoke upon our arrival and plan to send her a note ( privately) about some minor maintenance needs, but that did not effect our scoring. Thank you for a nice stay

Host cancelled at the last minute

I flew across country and arrived around check-in time. I received an email upon arrival at my destination saying the property was not available due to plumbing issues. They offered me a a refund or to use another one of their properties. At that point it was late afternoon and there were no hotels available so I had to use their other property. The other property was much less desirable than the one I reserved.

Nice house with potential but needs work

For the positives, location worked for us, great water pressure, has some nice updates. Now for the negative. House needs some serious repairs, some are even hazardous. The tile in many places is broken, broken so bad someone could easily cut their foot open. They hid it under mats. Banister is loose and missing pieces. Blinds were broken all over house. Needs repairs to ceiling, paint etc…. Carpets were very dirty. Air conditioning is non existent upstairs, ceiling fans don’t help much at all. For the beds inaccurate description, no queens. Just twins pushed together and they were on the floor. If they spent a little money on the house definitely would be a great place.

Enjoyed the large front porch

This is a beautiful, large older home in a beautiful neighborhood. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the large front porch during the summer evenings. There were a few quirks. The front door is very hard to lock. The downstairs half-bath is so small that adults needed to sit at an angle on the toilet. One of the bedroom doors sometimes opened on its own. But, overall, we were very pleased.

The house has a ton of potential.

When we arrived we were unable to access the property. The owner/ property manager did realize that within a half and hour or so and sent us an access code. The house has been redone but it is in disrepair with missing pieces of the stair railing, dirty carpet, and walls in need of painting and fixing. The towel rods were down in the bathroom and the blinds were broken and missing pieces. It appears that maybe there have been renters who have been extremely rough with things. And the listing was inaccurate regarding beds. There are no queen beds. There is a full size bed in one room and in another bedroom there are two twin size mattresses pushed together. The sheets were extremely low quality and would slip off the mattress repeatedly. The air conditioning does not keep the upstairs cool. The house seemed to be clean but all of these other issues were a real turn off. I will say the rooms are large and the floor planking is new and was a great choice for the house. The kitchen is spacious and the countertops are beautiful. Sadly, I can not recommend the house.

Unique older home but needs attention

We admired the uniqueness of this older home, but there are so many things that need attention. The lockbox is very difficult to use. The home was not cleaned well. The blinds were falling apart on almost every window. The garbage disposal did not work. Mattresses were uncomfortable. It appears no money is being put back into it for upkeep. The home owner was very prompt and helpful in responding to my message. It is located in a nice neighborhood and has lots of sleeping room. Kitchen had adequate cookware for our cooking needs although a colander and at least one sharp knife would be nice!

Great House/Safe Neighborhood

There was a glitch in messaging the property manager, but after we got that worked out, everything went well. The property is definitely not for handicapped people -- one of the things I would strongly suggest is a railing on the steps leading into the property. Otherwise, the property is exactly as shown on the website and our family (there for a funeral) enjoyed our time there together. Thank you, Hazel!

Hope my cleaning deposit is put to good use.

This house has great potential. It is a nice old house that has been re-decorated. The location worked great for my family event. I felt a lot like Goldilocks trying to find a bed that was comfortable and clean enough to sleep in. The house could use some attention to details with cleaning and new beds.
