«Lovely little hotel with individuell rooms and a restaurant bar right at the beach. We had one of the rooms with a spacious balcony, where you have stunning views of the ocean. Pia & Hashim are great hosts who let you feel like home, always friendly and willing to help you with everything. Their cute dog Leo & their cat complete the family. Easy going locals around and with their free bikes or canoes you can explore other areas at the beach. The food & drinks at the restaurant are delicious, ...

«This is the absolute best place for those looking for inexpensive stays. The staff was very nice, as were the other guest. It was very clean. No dirt, bugs, spiderwibs or anything else. Great location. 100m from the beach; 150m from Summer Beach restaurant, which has nice vibes, comfy chairs, a pool and wifi. The wifi in the hotel was the only issue, as it didnt work when got back in the evening, but for the price ($23USD), it's the best value i've stayed at anywhere around the world. »

11. La Base Beach Hotel

«Ottima struttura per visitare e godersi la costa est di Zanzibar. Camere essenziali ma confortevoli, pulite e moderne. Staff super, Roberta e i colleghi ti fanno sentire davvero a casa. Super consigliato! »

«Because we were only stopping for 2 nights we weren't too particular as to the room so chose the cheapest option but in retrospect we should have picked one next to the pool. We were in an annexe a 20meters away and it was a small room, though it did provide an effective ac unit, tea and coffee facilities, hit shower, clean towels both days, mosquito net, and it was clean and well presented. The main rooms surround the pool and are better proportioned. The owner and the staff are very pleasant ...

"Wonderful experience from start to finish. I haven’t been so relaxed in years. So well maintained,"

Konokono Beach Resort and Isaraya Over Water Villa

10/10 Utmerket

"We had a truly memorable stay at Konokono Beach Resort, including time in the Isaraya Over Water Villa, and overall this was one of the highlights of our trip. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and we genuinely felt we built a good connection with several of them during our stay. A special mention also goes to the Maasai guards, who not only provided security but also added a unique cultural touch by entertaining guests with singing and traditional jumping dances—something we really enjoyed. The food was consistently very good, and the overall cleanliness—both in the villa and around the resort—was of a high standard. The setting is simply stunning. The area is incredibly idyllic, and honestly, it rivals—or perhaps even surpasses—places like the Maldives in terms of natural beauty. The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, although it’s worth noting that the current can be surprisingly strong, especially during low tide. One thing to be aware of is the pricing of drinks, which we found to be very high. If you are staying in a villa, it may be a good idea to bring your own beverages. The only real downside during our stay was the lack of shade on the terrace outside the villa. Around midday, it became extremely hot, and we missed having a parasol or some form of sun protection to make better use of the outdoor space during those hours. Overall, this is a fantastic resort with a unique atmosphere, excellent service, and breathtaking surroundings."
