Hidden fees all over
Came in late as the streets were completely closed off for spring breakers, had we known that it was a nightmare to get here we would not have chosen this hotel. No parking available for a truck so had to grind street parking in the same chaos. Horrible. Also really expensive valley parking. Prepaid with taxes on hotels.com, was still charged $43 upon leaving for more hidden taxes. Got two small water bottles when checking in, was charged $10 for these also. So for a short nights stay, a overall not good and very pricy experience.

The Gabriel in South Beach was beautiful. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the beach. We loved the preservation of the original art deco, while still keeping a modern and clean feel. The lobby smelled excellent, clean, and luxurious. We had a wonderful experience with Tim, the hotel manager, who showed us the two pools and stowed our bags before check in. Keith, another staff member, was welcoming and friendly towards our family. Our interactions with all staff were positive. The only two critiques I have are the parking situation and the area around. The hotel offers a pricey valet, and no on-site parking. We had to park in an expensive garage overnight a block away. Additionally, the area around the hotel was noisy, crowded, full of tourists. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay at the Gabriel and we would come again.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Gabriel for 3 nights. It was perfectly located on Ocean Drive right across from the beach. It was easy walking around the area or catching an Uber if we wanted to go somewhere farther. We loved the outdoor area around the pool and outdoor bar. It was nicely decorated and updated. The restaurant was good, too, and offered some nice drink specials for happy hour. The hotel staff were always very pleasant and honest. We didn’t feel like they were trying to sell us anything. There was a mixup with our room and another guest who had the same last name, but the manager promptly resolved the issue and made up for it. The hotel has two pools, one is on the rooftop of the adjacent building and offers beautiful views. The other pool is on the patio and has ample seating and umbrellas. Going to the beach was super convenient as well - you simply walked up to the kiosk and they set you up with chairs which is included in the price of the hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the heart of South Beach. Hopefully one day we will be back!

We(family of 4) stayed there from Sunday through Thursday. The phone in the room didn’t work. I had to go down to front desk every time we needed something (ie. enough towels for four). Made the whole experience exhausting.

Overall, the hotel is a descent place since you are feet’s away from the beach. The only reason I gave an average 3 stars is because of the following: 1) The restroom did not had a ventilator. 2) The windows don’t open especially in the bathroom. 3) The space of the bedroom was small and the floor look dirty and old. 4) The hotel charges a lot of “miscellaneous charges”. Especially, when I had to pay an additional $75 for an early check in. Most hotels in California and Las Vegas don’t do this. However, overall it has walkable places to shop around and seeing the beach, which makes this a descent spot.

Restaurant service was very slow. Food was overpriced for menu items offered. The hotel staff are very kind but the environment seemed a chaotic.

The room smelled like mildew and had visible water damage on the cabinet in the room. I Told the older gentleman at the counter shortly after the discovery and he was extremely rude and unpleasant. It was very hard being in a room for two days with the suffocating odor. We left after the second night. I did speak to a different gentleman the second night and he was much more pleasant and understanding. He offered to refund the resort fee. I was very disappointed staying there with my 2 daughters. The room was not cheap for 2 nights with all the fees and other resort expenses. The other staff members were great and the dining was delicious. The awful smell was a deal breaker for me to even give a good review. The hotel should have not rented that room in that condition. No one even came to the room to inspect.
