TLDR: it's a "resort" without any of the perks of high-end resort service. I generally felt like everyone on staff was looking at me like I had two heads.
Valet parking is only $10 more than self parking, so definitely opt for valet. No one at the resort will offer to help you carry bags or bring a baggage cart to you; they're fine watching people shlep all their belongings around like vagabonds.
Diego (at check in) will play a fun game with you of "how did you get here, where are you from?" where he basically insults you by guessing the tackiest, lowest-class cities in Florida.
The room was nice, but pillows smell awful. The water park is pretty good, nothing exceptional. You'll pay insane amounts of money for cups of ice with a splash of Coke or Sprite. Tidal Cove closes at 5pm and its big pool closes at 6pm. On the dot. The vibe here is no-chill, stay-on-schedule.
If you try to open your own poolside umbrella you'll be reprimanded. Staff wants to be paid to do it for you (if you can find someone motivated enough to lift a finger). I had to ask 3 employees, "Where can we get towels?" before someone understood these words.
Go over your bill and any charges with a card (not to your room) because you will find unauthorized charges.
