The famous pink lakes of Mexico, Rio Lagartos. A magical sight! Pink waters and blue sky, It was like sunset reversed; a feast for eyes! There are plenty of colorful salt lakes near Las Coloradas/Rio Lagartos in the Yucatan peninsula. It is just 2 hours drive away from Chichén Itzá and around 3 hours from Cancun. Public transport is scarce in this part of Mexico.
We took a rental car and it was an easy and comfortable journey for us :) Once we reached Las Coloradas, we were welcomed by giant white salt mountains. After driving around the salt mountains for some time, we finally found someone local who took us to this beautiful private salt lake.

«We have rented this condo seven times over the last four years. It’s clean, contemporary, and has just what you need to prepare a few meals. The hostess greeted us with a bottle of wine and the first couple of days the housekeeping staff folded our towels into adorable animals. All staff members at Cancun Plaza are so kind and gracious. «Group of 6 staying end of July. Plenty of space for all. Large bedrooms with dedicated bathrooms/showers. The deck is well positioned to see both sunsets and sunrises. «The location was adequate for travel and shopping for everyday things. The process of check-in and out was fine. It has the potential to be a great location however it’s lacking in cleanliness. Their cleaning service apparently only tidies things up and doesn’t do a “real” clean. That was what we most remember of the location. We never used the pool, instead we went to the beach. I would not stay at this apartment again. Cancun has so many options.»
