Booked last minute (same day) as little availability elsewhere due to a football macth. Used to be a Hilton Honours member but let it lapse as I felt standards had dropped.
Check in was easy, but I hadnt expected or been told of a £50 deposit in case of any expenses being incurred - it will be interesting to see how long that takes to be returned.
£12 to park car for up to 24 hours.
Room was sizeable and clean. Room was cold on arrival and took a while to warm up.
Wifi was quick and reliable.
Food menu was limited, possibly due to a recent flood.
Bar area was clean and prices about what was expected for a hotel - £5.90 for Stella. Very sterile bar area, no TVs etc. No toilets available due to a flood - I was told I would have to use my room which was on 11th floor - bar is on 5th floor.
Breakfast was limited due to flood - cererals, toast, croissants and a bacon / suausage sandwich on request.
Could not give me a VAT receipt on checkout as I had booked through a 3rd party (hotels.com). I do 40+ nights a year away on business and have never been unable to obtain a VAT receipt before even if booking through 3rd party.
