The house was beautiful and super cozy for our large group. We really enjoyed ourselves. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep. Kitchen was very well stocked. The only thing I would have liked to have more of is a few cozy blankets in the family room and bedrooms. Other than that, wonderful place!!

Extended family of 13 stayed for over Labor Day weekend and we had a wonderful time. The views are STUNNING and with two levels of wrap around porches you almost feel as though you’re in a treehouse Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets and one lovely rainbow, wildlife sightings daily, and total peace and serenity. Comfy beds, plenty of seating for large groups. We spent most of our time in the cabin together, but Pipestem State Park is just down the road and the cabin is only about 20 minutes to Princeton, WV

Great Visit! Will Return!

We appreciated our vacation stay at this location! Beautiful view and 8-10 areas of where we could see fireworks over the fourth!Good communication and quick response by the owner to our needs. Plenty of towels, toilet paper, and trash bags! Clean bathrooms, showers, and tubs.Clean overall, but floors needed mopped. Our 10 mo old grandchild crawled all over the main floor, kitchen, and living area. His knees, feet, and hands were black. Again, not noticeable to the bare eye, but definitely dirty. The rest of us just kept our shoes on! The downstairs has 5 bedrooms and a large central space! We would have loved to have 2 sleeper sofas, and/or pool table or ping pong table in that downstairs area !Thanks for a nice stay! Could we come back in 2027?

Four family get together

Great house. Lots of space for families to spread out. Beautiful location! Kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, Kurig, baking sheets, etc. Great communication with host. Would stay again

Fantastic view

The view from as a big factor for staying here and how open the house is bc there is so many people and kids staying in the house. It never felt cramped, the kitchen is well stocked, and there was plenty of laundry soap, kitchen soap, toilet paper, paper towels… for us to use. We made a fire one night outside and there was already wood in the fire pit for us to use. The only problems we had was that the coffee pot was dirty, coffee was still in it from the last use. And one of the bathrooms in the downstairs room the shower didn’t work.

Family Christmas

The house was large with plenty of room for all of us (8 adults and 5 kids). There was plenty of kitchen ware for the cooking and eating. Overall it was adequately clean but, it could use a good deep clean, some repairs and some paint.

Family gathering

Enjoyed our family visit. Fantastic views with impressing sunrises and sunsets. Had minor plumbing issues on second floor which the owner was in the process of resolving upon our arrival. A bit more dusty on 1st floor than we would have preferred. Driveway was a bit more challenging than expected. Overall excellent stay with lots of indoor space. Multiple areas of outside seating on the decks and around fire pit with a good amount of parking provided. Great for large families.

Almost Heaven, West Virginia

We came in for a college graduation with multiple small family units. This cabin had so much SPACE! From the outdoor deck to the main living area, we all could gather comfortably without feeling like we were on top of each other. The kitchen is large and well stocked. We had an issue we discovered with the sinks being clogged overnight and he came out immediately the next morning to fix them, was communicative during the entire process and so gracious about it all. My favorite was the master bedroom with its private balcony (AMAZING VIEWS!!) and its huge claw footed bathtub. Will 100% stay here again when my stepson graduates with his Masters. Bonus: if you like a good workout, hike to the end of the driveway and back up one time….you’ll have an excellent cardio that burns the muscles on the lower half of your body in less than 30 minutes. A majority of that time is walking back up. Love a good quick nature workout.

The view from the house, including from the decks and almost every room, is spectacular! The house was large with plenty of space in bedrooms and living areas for our two families (12 total). plenty sitting space inside and out to enjoy the views, including an outdoor fire pit. Very well stocked with papers, soaps, towels. Kitchen is also well stocked. It is a little rustic (like a cabin feel), but very comfortable. Beds were comfy. multiple heating/cooling zones plus a nice electric fire place that put out some cozy heat on a cool night. Cell service and internet was fine, even though it's isolated...we had no issues. Even streamed a baseball game online. Driveway is steep, but well maintained. Our FWD minivan had no issues in May (Winter would likely require 4WD). Nearest Walmart/Grocery is about 15 min away. Definitely enjoyed our stay, and recommend this place if you want a more isolated spot with plenty of space to enjoy. We actually stayed here for VT graduation weekend since it was hard to find space for two full families to stay together. It's 75 mins from Blacksburg, but a nice ride...only caution is take 460 to I-77N when coming from Blacksburg (not the back roads short cut which gets hairy).

Love this place

Plenty of rooms and baths and the porch and location is great. This is actually our second time staying here. The owner lived next door and is amazing and very quick to respond if you need him. He also stays on top of making sure the drive is safe with the snow.

Spacious Family Cabin!!

This cabin was so spacious and had amazing views of the area. The rooms were spacious but basic. The living area was the highlight with a giant dinner table, and two seating areas for the whole family to hangout. Kitchen was well stocked, and the cabin had a few puzzles/books/games for us to use. My only negative was the STEEP and long winding driveway up to the property.

AMAZING VIEWS!

This property is gorgeous!!! My family and another family, ages 69 years to 8 months stayed at this house and it was perfect. We loved the private bathrooms in the rooms and the spacious living room. This house is on a mountain with a big hill, the kids loved it. The host is very friendly and responds quickly. It snowed our last night and he was out plowing the drive way before we asked. I would love to come stay again. Wonderful place!

Perfection

We LOVED our stay! The views are breathtaking. There are so many windows & so much porch space that you can see the gorgeous scenery from almost anywhere in the house. Lots of porch furniture. The appliances are nice & there was even a Keurig coffee maker & a Ninja regular maker too. The host was great!

Beautiful Getaway

This was my 5th stay at this property with a group of reuniting friends. Beautiful, relaxing getaway. There was a ladybug swarm happening but the owner came by multiple times to vacuum them up. The AC/Heat doesn't seem to work very efficiently, but we were comfortable. Looking forward to staying again!

Pros and cons to this property

PROS: -BEAUTIFUL views -Lots of space & plenty of living room and dining room seating -Better stocked with kitchen supplies than many rentals -Grill and fire pit made outdoor time enjoyable -Owner was next door and very friendly. He even offered to run to the store if we needed anything. When we asked for a lighter or matches because the grill ignition wasn't working, someone ran them right over. CONS: -Cleanliness. It definitely could have been worse, but I literally wiped small but visible brown and yellow spots off the toilet seat and rim. They were clearly visible and came off easily. There's no reason for that, especially when you pay a cleaning fee. -Communication. A couple weeks before our trip, I messaged the owner with a few simple questions about the property. After a WEEK and sending TWO (friendly!) follow-up messages, I got a response, but no apology (or even acknowledgment) of the poor response time. About a week before our trip, I had a few more simple questions. That time, it was a bit better - 3 days later I followed up and he responded, but again no acknowledgement that I had to follow up to hear from him. -Leaky window - our last night/day it rained. The room my husband and I had a big window and we had to put down towels and collected containers of rain water through the night. Not such a good night! I (very kindly!) let the owner know the next morning (also the day we left) and 4 days later he still hasn't acknowledged that message or the leak.

Serious Repair Issues

Let me start by saying this home has so much potential. But at its current condition I would recommend closing it until completely repaired. First, the easiest to fix: the house needs a DEEP clean. We were informed that the regular cleaning person was ill. But the filthines was way beyond 1 compromised cleaning. We cleaned for 2 hours right behind the cleaning people. And we left it MUCH cleaner than we found it. 2- The bedding was actually dirty on a couple beds and all the sheets were holey. 3- The mattresses were atrocious. Everyone in the house was having back pain. 4- No AC. I understand that it's supposed to be fixed for the next renters. 5- the floor at the back sliding door is collapsing. 6- The upper deck has rotten wood that is literally falling apart 7- there are loose deck railings on a very high deck. 8- There is a broken outlet on the lower level with wires exposed. 8- the master bathroom tub is leaking around the pipes 9- the kitchen cookware was worn-out. The tools were too. Only 6 bowls for eating and only cheap, flimsy plastic bowls for serving. 10- multiple ceilings are rotted from previous leaks. (and the response to a previous renters complaint about this said that all the issues were fixed) Okay, so I could go on, but you get the picture. It has great potential but has very dangerous problems that were difficult to deal with, especially with small children and toddlers. I would recommend not renting it out until these issues have been resolved. And I would absolutely not rent it to people with children!
