Nice place
The rooms were lovely and the location is beautiful, next to a canal lock with ducks and swans, surrounded by grasslands. Very quiet. Decor throughout is very nice, comfortable, stylish and fairly luxurious. We had a twin room which actually contained a double and 2 single beds. My daughter complained the single bed was v narrow, which it was, but we pushed the two together and she was very happy with that. Two others in our party had a twin room with normal-sized single beds. Everyone had a good night's sleep. It's always annoying when there's nowhere to charge your phone near the bed, but that's a minor niggle! I had a bath and couldn't get the water quite as warm as i wanted it to be. Breakfast was nice enough but not spectacular. The coffee wasn't wonderful and the buffet was limited, but the cooked vegetarian English was generous and pleasant and kept me full up most of the day, as hoped! The staff looked after us well and made sure we had enough toast :)

A perfect rural location
This was a great place to stay, on the outskirts of Lancaster. The room was spacious, warm and inviting. Breakfast was fabulous in a gorgeous restaurant overlooking the canal.

Convenient, clean and happy. Superb breakfast.
Great staff. Food good. A couple of issues fixed very quickly. The second room we had was good value and appropriately priced. The first was not.

Comfortable and well equipped room .Hotel close to interesting countryside and small port and marina. Lots of wildlife around...we even saw a Snowy Owl flying around the area!

A lucky find after our original booking elsewhere was cancelled. The Mill is situated in a very quiet and picturesque area. On arrival we were politely and efficiently checked in. The room was spacious and well appointed with a comfortable bed and tea and coffee making facilities. Outside is a large seated area and a lovely walk alongside the canal, whilst walking before our evening meal, we spotted numerous birds and animals. We booked an evening meal in the hotel, the food was of reasonable quality and good value, as was the white wine which accompanied it. The room and hotel was quiet in the evening, although it was quite stuffy and warm, with a view onto a flat roof! A decent breakfast in the morning and a nice easy check out, with the same very polite and personable member of staff on the desk. Would return if in the area again.

Overall stay ok but unfortunately toilet flush was broken so had to remove lid of cistern & flush manually by hand after use of toilet. Could maybe do with grab rail of sorts to enable older people to get into bath for over bath shower.

not great value
Nice big room but double bed when a queen or king would easily fit. soft++ bed. Carpet in communal areas near external door a bit smelly and carpets stained a fair bit. Reasonable breakfast. Staff looked pretty unhappy and rushed, possibly understaffed.

Thank you for your feedback.We do have several rooms with king size or even super king size beds. Should you wish to stay in the future we will endeavour to allocate you one of these rooms.

Very disappointing -expensive, tired and not clean
Very disappointed. It was a very expensive stay for 2 nights (£175 p/n) only to be find our room tired, poorly maintained and bed extremely uncomfortable. (By comparison the Perm Inn we stay the previous night for £70 had none of these complaints.) After the first night and complaining we were moved to another room and refunded some of the cost of our stay which was well received but whilst he new room (specifically the bed) was more comfortable, the bathroom was tired, not particularly clean and the sheets on the bed had stains. Outside of the room the hotel smelt of damp and musty and the staff were constantly walking around spraying air freshener. Overall we were very disappointed with the hotel and despite it being a really nice location and the staff being friendly and doing their best to help, we could not recommend. It feels as if they rest heavily on their wedding venue business and not the fundamentals of running a good hotel operation. Such a shame as it could so easily be amazing.

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback and I am sorry that your stay didn't meet expectation as we pride ourselves on both our levels of customer service and cleanliness.When you expressed your disappointment with your original family room saying that your bed was uncomfortable, I offered to move you immediately; there was no mention of cleanliness or maintenance issues. You were reticent to put you belongings together as you were off out for the day, so we took your original room out of service, therefore loosing the income on that room to allow you to move your personal items on your return to the hotel.You were moved to one of our signature rooms with a superb view of the canal and I refunded you some monies in lieu of your poor nights sleep the previous evening; apologies if this room did not live up to your expectation. As we did not have a wedding taking place at The Mill during your stay I find it somewhat confusing that you would comment that we 'rest heavily on our wedding venue business' I note your comments re the Perm Inn, I assume you mean the Premier Inn? They do offer excellent value on occasions, but unlike The Mill do not offer the facility of a rate that includes a full a la carte breakfast that can be enjoyed in a restaurant that overlooks the canal which is blessed with a family of swans and abundant wildlife.

Quiet restful stay
Quiet location next to the Lancaster canal. Room was large and comfortable with a canal view. Food was excellent and staff friendly. The only minor issue we had was a loud noise from the pipes after we flushed the toilet - probably air in the pipes.

Great Stop
A lovely setting right next to the Lancashire Canal.. Good food and great service. Lancaster town is only a 15 mins drive away. Perfect peaceful place to stop.

Great stay
Absolutely brilliant stay at The Mill. The suite was great, lots of space, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. All staff encountered were pleasant and couldn’t do enough for you. Food was delicious too.
