  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. House is comfortable. Appreciated the bikes and umbrella. The king bed did not have sheets when we arrived. We did find sheets. The dishwasher was full. It may have been run but didn't check and just added to them. Water was not on when we arrived by Southern Shores was helpful to get it on.

Our entire experience, from booking, to checking out was smooth and easy. The house is just amazing and fully stocked--it truly is a home away from home. It was our first experience with a house on the beach, and this home delivered in every way. Walking out the living room door to the deck (with a couch, many rocking chairs, and even a table with umbrella around back), then to private seating areas where you can watch the beach for hours, to access to beach, was the best beach experience we have ever had. There is a neighborhood beach access that runs along the home, but it was never noisy or crowded because only neighbors could access this. There is no public parking in this neighborhood-only resident parking, so it was quiet and the beach was not crowded where we were. Such a treat for beaches in August. Shopping for groceries or anything you need is within 5 minutes (when you are not stuck in arrival or departure traffic, which is pretty rough). Linens for bed and bath are provided. There is room to park two cars under the home, but additional cars can easily fit on the driveway. The interior design is designed for a comfy and cozy stay. There are two large tables in the living area where we set up a puzzle and the large dining room table (seats 12 I believe), is perfect for dinner board games. We felt so comfortable here. We cannot wait to return to this wonderful home in a great area. Southern Shores realty was always available for quick questions.
