Great house on the beach

We stayed with 2 other families, 6 adults and 5 teens. The house had a kitchen with everything we needed to cook at home. The 2 dishwashers, 2 refrigerators, and ice maker were amazing. The beach was small and hard to walk on, so we spent more of our time at the pool and hot tub. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Boomer couples family reunion

Gorgeous house on the beach, with great kitchen (3 sinks! 2 dishwashers! 2 ovens + air fryer oven, microwave etc!), large dining space and multiple common areas provided space for our 12 older adults to gather. Plenty of bedrooms all with their own bathroom for privacy. Great location for OBX. Rental company is easy to deal with. Groceries etc nearby, plus all the tourist attractions you're looking for in the area. We were too early in the season for the pool, but there's a shower & toilet at pool level also. Elevator made bringing kitchen supplies up to upper level easy.

House needs updating and repairs

Excellent beach location, we had a great time, but the “owner” needs to step up. 1.The“owners” lawn care company hit a large stone while mowing the lawn and hit one of our cars causing a dent and paint damage. We immediately called the rental company and they said they would contact the “owner”. We have heard NOTHING back from the “owner”. 2. The house is not at all what the pictures show in the listing, it is very well “used”. Duct tape on the furniture, broken chairs, child gates that are broke and useless, the washing machine was broken and not working properly, electric outlet issues, lighting in the pool area where the switches were sparking and light bulbs were out. (We called the rental company and they did send someone out to take care of the electrical issues and address a few other minor problems quickly). The decks are extremely worn, watch out for slivers and nails. The railing to the beach deck was rotted and broken. 3.The bedding was well worn and did not have mattress covers. Some of the spreads were filthy and there was sand in, and on the bedding. We wondered if the “cleaning service” had actually changed the bedding. It seems as if they sprayed the entire house with disinfectant and that was about it. There was mold in many of the showers. Simple bleach can clean that up…. 4.Be aware that the house is on the main road, understand that’s there is a LOT of traffic. We heard NO street noise but had to be careful when pulling out of the driveway.

Family vacation

Overall the house was amazing. Lots of room and the kitchen had everything you could ask for. The location is great and the view is top notch. The beds could be replaced not real comfortable amd some of the furniture is getting worn.

Vacation

The home was nice. It did need some fixing. The faucet in one of the bathrooms was leaking. One of the lamps in one of the bedrooms wasn’t working love the view I mean oh my goodness the view it was amazing. We are looking for a house to stay next year the same time we will be looking into this home. It was a beautiful home a wonderful stay and I thank you very much.

REVIEW OF THE HOUSEP

I like the 7 bedrooms with toilet on each room.But the vents were not cleaned Found white hairs like pets hair.I do not like the convection oven.We can not cook bigger portions for 14 people .We have to cook twice since the pots are small. The elevator is not user friendly.My daughter and her husband felt like the room they occupied was moldy that they got sick.The house needs to be check for molds.But I like the hot tub The location is perfect The water in the swimming pool is cold although I paid $500 for the pool to be heated.Otherwise our vacation was nice.The house accommodate us .The 2 tables were perfect for 14 people.

Beautiful Spacious Home!

The pictures really don’t do this house and property justice! What an amazing experience for my spouse and I and also some family members that spent a couple nights with us. Each room with its own full bathroom, great game room and Plenty of seating in all areas ! Amazing kitchen!!! The kitchen has everything!! The cook weAr is top notch along with ample appliances!! Elevator is fantastic! Stops at all levels, even the game room ; so anyone with any sort of mobility issue would have no issues. . Upper deck- large and fantastic! Plenty of rocking chairs ! Mid deck just as nice! All furniture super comfortable! Oh but the view!! It’s hard to beat! I’ve rented many places all over the country, and this one takes the cake! You almost feel like you are in a cruise ship when looking out the window from the living room and dinning room! I would definitely recommend this place for a multi family beach vacation!! Hot tub was great! Thank you for sharing your house!!

Overall a positive experience!

The property is a bit outdated, but the location and proximity to the beach was so convenient. Our group of 13 fit very comfortably given the 7 master bedrooms. The check in process is not ideal as you are given a window of time (4-6pm) and are not guaranteed check in until 6pm (the realty company texts you once the house is ready), but this was not ideal given we had multiple groups traveling from various parts of the country and arriving at different times. The property was well kept, but did not seem to have been deep cleaned prior to our arrival. Lastly, we were disappointed by the lack of beach chairs/towels at the property. We assumed given its proximity to the beach, there would at least be chairs we could sit in or an umbrella.

Great Beachfront Property

Castle in the Sand is a spacious 7 bedroom oceanfront home with 7 en suite baths and a hallway half-bath spread over two floors, that provided ample space for our 14-member family, ranging from 6 to 67 years of age. Everyone had space but could easily congregate for dinners and family time. We enjoyed ocean views from most bedrooms , the kitchen, living room and dining area, which made each day a pure pleasure. You could see the moon on the ocean most nights and sunrise over the ocean every morning, not to mention dolphins playing off shore each day. A gourmet kitchen with two ovens, two sinks, two dishwashers and a large under-cabinet ice-maker made family dinners and entertaining a breeze. There was also a refrigerator and small sink in the game-room, which had a large screen TV, a pool table, an arcade game and multiple movie chair recliners. Outside was a pool, hot tub, kiddie pool, shower, bathroom and grill, along with our private boardwalk to the beach. Beach Realty staff were very accessible and helpful. If we had a need, they responded quickly and were very friendly. In addition to enjoying the beach and pool, our family sand-surfed, saw the wild horses of Corolla, flew kites on the beach, enjoyed an escape-room adventure and explored nature walks and shops in nearby Duck, Kitty Hawk and Nags Head, not to mention a round of golf at a links course. Overall, Castle in the Sand was a perfect family oceanfront vacation spot, and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Family vacation

The location & size of house are as advertised. However, it is in need of repairs. Broken deck door, broken chair with sign “ do not sit” 2 loose stairs, 1 of the dishwashers did not work. TV s need updating. view & beachfront were awesome. elevator very convenient.

Clean, but needs some TLC.

Clean house!, but lots of band-aid fixes in and around the home. Some things in need of repair. Lots of furniture in rooms. One broken window with a sign saying not to open it, lots of lights out, some foundation issues causing a significant slant in some places on the floor, some drainage issues outside, creating pooling and drawing mosquitoes, some indoor railing pickets have obviously come loose and are being held in with a nail, Highchair is very old and not safe per CPSC standards. Found a crib in a closet, but no mention of that in the listing so we had paid extra to rent one. HVAC vendor was very slow to respond when temps were reaching 80 inside the home. Kitchen cabinet pulling away from wall. Still a very clean house and it’s right on the beach. Lots of extra linens in closets.

family get away

oveall the property was great, but could use some updating. The stovetop was difficult to use and a couple of the sliding glass doors were tough to open. Other than that, it was great for our large group and the kids loved the heated pool and hot tub.

No follow through

I was super clear with beach realty that this was booked a year ago for my sons high school graduation with attendees being all elderly family or families in AZ and CA. When NONE of my family could attend cuz they passed or were concerned re covid I was promised concessions if i paid the second half of the rent..:I would get a credit or at min an early check and late check out of there were no renters on each side of the rez. I further explained that I get it.. as I too have places that I own and rent in vail, keystone and FL. After much prodding, after I arrived and paid for hotels, I was told I could pay 2 k a night to be there early and check our late. This was completely inconsistent with what Beach realty told me when they were enticing me to pay second half of rent due. Regardless, I paid and showed up with only a few friends and was not able to check in early or late. So... while we enjoyed our time this was not acceptable. I host many client eventS for work and this litmus test was telling..: and will opt to go back to sea island, Hampton’s, Greenbriar or breakers rather than risk the variability of This unit. . I am a 49 year old adult and have never (ever) written a negative review. Like ever... and we vacation all the time. I won’t even complain that the hot tub didn’t work. Nor did the grill that I put money in after finding out there was no device for the same. Nor did the AC in 2 rooms nor did 1 of the 2 dishwashers. Look we like the area. We will go back for my other sons graduation next year. Yes OBX. Just not this property and Definitely not beach realty. Hope you take this note to heart cuz few are spending on stuff like this and for those that do...should get something other than empty promises. I won’t withhold my second half of the payment but am very very very tempted to. If someone of position wants to call me direct to fix this I will listen. But this was super underwhelming. Good and bad

Grill was rusted beyond use but picture made it look new. Leaked in several spots. Beds were lumpy and could feel springs in some on first level. Rental company left massages at my home instead of cell. Good things were pool was heated. Ice machine useful. Plenty of kitchen ware. Plenty of room for family.

Perfect 16 member family vacation spot

Three generations , ages 1 - 70+. Plenty of space for all kinds of activities without being on top of others. Also good space to be together ! Could not have happened without elevator for mobility challenged. Definitely will plan again for next year. Could never ask for better views, accommodations, and hospitality. Perfect in every way !
