As bad as it gets
I had booked a deluxe room. To enter the building you have to pass a door that is 180cm. high. I banged my head. The room was at 4th. floor, with a 60 cm wide stair as access. Tiny room aprox 8-10m2. Bathroom OK, but NO WATER. Even though I had pre-payd, I chose to check in at a nearby hotel.
We would like to say in response that the Spinel Hotel is a boutique hotel in the historic district of Istanbul. We are required to follow strict building codes when converting housing into hotels and as a result many of the small hotels in this area have some eccentric layouts. All owners and managers of these facilities do their best to make the accommodation comfortable for their guests and we are no exception.  Our deluxe rooms have ocean views, hence their being located on the 3rd and 4th floors.  With regard to the water. Rarely, work needs to be done on the water mains in this area. We are assuming that this guest must have come during one of these periods. When this happens we are left to serve our customers with water from storage tanks. For the handful of times this has been an issue, we have not been given warning by the council in time to warn our guests. We are very sorry to hear that this customer had a less than perfect experience during his stay with us. Had he informed us of his displeasure with his room, we could have moved him to one of our other deluxe rooms. We request that all of our guests please bring any concerns to us so that we may be given the opportunity to address them directly. We certainly do not want our customers to walk away unhappy and we go to great lengths to ensure this does not happen (if we have the chance to). Spinel Hotel Management

Overall hotel was nice clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful but some front desk staff were little forceful on offering excursions and private taxi service in €uro which was a LOT more expensive than paying in Lira and didn’t like it when i declined the offer. Housekeeping and breakfast staff were Amazing. However VERY disappointed with the fact there was no mention on expdia that there is NO LIFT in the property. It was difficult to climb up and down 2 floors for me as a person with mobility issues.

Le personnel à disposition, aimable, serviable,respectueux Au niveau des escaliers, la construction de l'hôtel quelque peu fatigante - chambres d'1 côté opposé à la terrasse (escaliers en colimaçon)- Cependant, la vue de la terrasse est assez agréable et le Monsieur qui tient le lieu très sympathique.

El desayuno magnífico, muy variado y casero, servido en la terraza frente al Bósforo. Las habitaciones un poco justas, pero limpias, las camas cómodas y con todo lo necesario. La ubicación, a los pies de Santa Sofía, junto a una zona de hotelitos, restaurantes, bares...

Great boutique hotel. Walking distance to many attractions in İstanbul. The staff is awesome and friendly. There is a private shuttle to and back to an awesome fish and meat restaurant called Yildizlar Restaurant. I recommend going there to experience Bosphorus dining. The free breakfast served at the terrace on the roof is cherry on top. Not all hotels in the area offer that. The view is beautiful and Yurkish breakfast items are fantastic. Hard on cars, but they have parking compared to many other hotels. Taxi service is available. Don't be scared of the two-way hill-y roads where one car barely fits, but they find a way to make it work although sometimes one car has to back out. Easy access to restaurants of the area and convenient stores. You can safely walk out at night as the cafes and restaurants stay open till 4 am We would go back there if we ever visit the area again.

The hotel itself was fine...few things i feel it wasnt up to .. the stairs are very narrow and steep....very scary to go up and down and with a suitcase its even worse. The mattresses definately need replacing as the metal springs poke through when you lying down. Breakfast i not very international and only local teas available.....staff was friendly.

Loved the roof top deck with great breakfast and views. Staff was delightful and always willing to help. Location was great. I would recommend the owner stay away from the property and allow his staff to do their great work. He was surly and rude to both customers and his employees

Terrific hotel & location!
Excellent long term stay in very clean and new 2br condo with kitchen for our family! Hadir is a great friendly owner that made us very welcome as he is always available, professional and knowledgeable and so is his attentive staff. Nice breakfast was included and served on the beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. Safe and quiet location is superb with Hagia Sofia and sites in easy 5 mins walking distance. Also Sultanahmet tram is right there just in case for easy access to anywhere. Would definitely stay here again.

Because of our indirect flight , we had to check in late but it was okay, the person at the reception greeted us with a huge smile and he gave the briefing about room, we went into the room and literally , it was much better than my expecta

L’emplacement proche des monuments est parfait par contre niveau hygiène a fuir drap moisi odeur d’humidité. Ménage mal fait. Petit déjeuner pauvre très peu de choix et toujours la même chose. Personnel quand même gentil

La posizione dell'hotel è perfetta (stradina silenziosa ma a due passi da santa sofia ), appartamento al primo piano gradevole anche se un po' anonimo, appartamento al piano terra che affaccia direttamente sulla strada e un po' buio, cmq letti comodi, stanze pulite e rifatte tutti i giorni e spazi abbastanza ampi. La terrazza per la colazione ha una vista spettacolare (ma quarto piano a piedi, non lo consiglierei a bambini piccolissimi o anziani) . Il palazzo di fronte è stato abbattuto ed è un cantiere a cielo aperto quindi quando si arriva la prima impressione è desolante . In sintesi albergo comodo ben posizionato e pulito ma pochissimo charme!

Adequate accommodation
Nice family hotel in Sultanahmet. Very nice people who were very friendly and helpful. Room adequate- there was nowhere to relax really. Quite expensive for a solo traveller.

The only thing that was nice about this hotel is that when you climb upstairs in a 6 to 7 floor spiral stair case you come to the top of the roof and you get to see the ocean view from far, I would have to say it also had a good sea air breeze. The things that I disliked about this hotel was that there was no elevators so this place is definitely not the spot for handicapped people. Every room is 3 or more stories high so you have to take all these stairs to reach your room carrying your luggage. The stairs are steep on framed with marble flooring so any slip can send you to a major injury or your death bed! The rooms are not the cleanest and accommodations are not so fulfilling. I really would not recommend this place for a stay. This hotel or should I call hostel is placed in rubbish and run down area.

Avoid this so called hotel
Photos are so misleading! It’s in a ruined alley and it’s an old building turned into a something that they call a hotel. Felt so bad when I got there. It was too late to cancel. No elevators and steps are so narrow; so good luck taking your luggage up 4 floors. It should have never got the certification of operating as a hotel to begin with. They advertise as free parking to come up on search tools, but there is no parking. It’s street parking! Very very overpriced. With the same price you can get an actual hotel not this sham. In one word; AVOID

Insects in room We ordered 2 rooms and they told us they didnt have 2 rooms so we stayed with 4 people in 1 room. Terrible location it was like a ghetto or something. We saw the photos of the skyline on internet so we go to the upper floor and saw litterly only buildings and no skyline or the sea. We went sick after de first night. When we ordered food the deliveries said also what this place is and they said also i wouldnt even stay here for 10minutes. The lession for me is i will pay 100 euros more per person for a better hotel if they offer me free room i dont go there again!
