There wasn't one big thing, but lots of little things that made it not so great. We arrived about 30 min before check-in time. They wanted to charge me $25 for early check-in. I can understand if we were and hour or two or more early. We waited the 30 min instead.
The halls had a weird, bad smell. There were garbage bags by all the entry doors. The one by our door was leaking milk all over the sidewalk we had to step over.
The room wasn't filthy, but it also wasn't clean. We did see an old, dried string from a mop wrapped around the foot of the bed so we know at some point it had been mopped. However, you could see dust, debrit, and hair anywhere that wasn't a main walking path. The bedspread was white, but that also showed all the hair and debrit on them as well. I am sure the white towels had been washed, but they had questionable stains. The toilet made lots of weird, water-running noises. I actually shut the water supply off at night to help us sleep better.
The beds were actually fairly comfortable and our king had quite a few pillows. The room we were in was pretty spacious for a hotel room.
Breakfast was also lacking. The powdered eggs were grainy and burnt - basically they weren't edible. They ran out of waffles. We had sausage, muffins (once they were restocked, and cold cereal.
We tried the pool (which was a good size and relatively warm) and the hot tub (which was more a warm tub - it never got hot).
The people were nice, apologetic, and understaffed.
