«Great location for travel into York, Knaresborough and Harrogate, the cottage had a proper rustic feel to it and was very cosy whilst remaining practical. The owners were friendly and didn’t mind us going to visit their farm animals each morning, llamas, goats, ponies etc, which was a lovely touch. »

«We had a fantastic stay in Louise's gorgeous cottage. Beautifully decorated, luxury bedding, comfy beds and just 5 mins from centre of York. Check in was easy and Louise allowed us a later checkout which tied in nicely with our train home. We have all agreed that we would love to come back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the cottage to others coming to York.»

«Really lovely property and enough space for 5 of us. Everything was as described and clean. We had a fabulous 4 night stay and a great location. It was easy to get to York, McArthur Glen and Scarborough. We would definitely return, the owners are lovely and the bonus, a little farm shop.»

«This was our second stay here for the three of us plus dog. Located near the castle and overlooking the railway, it’s ideally placed. Town is a two minute walk and, although parking is a street away, there was always free spaces. You’ll need reversing skills to get to the property to unload, as the house is on a narrow one way road, with no parking. The property is ideal for four, with two bathrooms and a decent sized kitchen/dining/living area. Happy to say, we’ll look for the property the next ...

«This cottage is represented well by the photographs on the website. It had everything we needed for our stay. We are two adults and two children (15, 12) and there was adequate room for us all. There were no issues with parking directly outside the property, we managed to get a space everytime. Helmsley is a lovely place, everyone was very friendly. This cottage was an excellent base for exploring the nearby area.»

«My partner and I (and our dog) stayed at Gemma’s lovely cottage and we couldn’t be happier! Communication was prompt, the cottage was immaculate when we arrived and fully equipped, and the village of Burythorpe was beautiful! Highly recommend popping into the pub across the street as it was lovely. Gemma also provided several great recommendations in the guest book and we are sad that we couldn’t get to everything in our weekend stay! Would definitely come back, thanks Gemma!»

Small room with carpet and useless airconditioning
"The hotel had been refurbished, but our room was supposed to be a room for disabled people, which is absurd considering the small size and wall to wall carpet. Seriously, carpet in 2024? No place for people with asthma. The airconditioning lived a life of it's own, and even when fans supposedly turned off, it started blowing in the middle of the night leaving me with a sinus inflamation afther our stay. We also asked for someone to fix the chrome cast device, but this never happened either. "
