Little Maplestead is a village in the Braintree district of N Essex, 8 miles NE of Braintree itself. The Parish Church, originally a chapel of The Knights of St. John of Jerusalem -
Knights Hospitallers. Built Circa 1340, largely rebuilt 1849-55. It is one of only few medieval round churches in England now.

«The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. We were met by the owner, Mark, on arrival, who was very welcoming. He provided lots of local information, including walks and pubs marked on an OS map. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. There are several properties here, but all wirh separate entrances and outside seatinf areas so they feel private. It was a great base for a few days in the Suffolk countryside. »

«Very nice quaint cottage everything you need for a comfortable stay. Bed very comfy. The only downside for me was the very steep narrow stairs but were manageable. The owner was very nice and helpful lovely breakfast basket left in the kitchen with bacon eggs tomatoes bread butter and milk. A fire made in the grate just needed lighting. I had a very pleasant stay would definitely stay there again.»

«Everything was as listed….the log burner was an added feature which we were happy to use on rainy days. The location was really goid… Colchester close and historically very interesting. North of the city was Constable country… nice walks and interesting info on the artists. South we enjoyed Tiptree museum, and the Salt marshes for walking and photography. «Nice place to stay for our short break with outside seating area at the rear which was welcome as it was very hot weather and it was far too hot in the house with no air conditioning or fan provided. We had taken a fan with us ourselves which we needed on both floors if the house. Lots of wasps/insects entering the house due to the weather. Can accommodate babies and pets too. Well equipped apart from no hairdryer. House looked a different colour (darker) from the website, so difficult to find. »

"Kom til et sjarmerende eldre hotell, fint superior rom, men dessverre var det full av Møll… det var ikke like sjarmerende. Fikk endret rom til et uten synlige insekter. Så fram til en velsmakende frokost, men ble skuffet. Overfyll frokostsal, ble plassert i et kaldt utrivelige møterom… Det var lite utvalg i buffet og da vi fikk servert kaffe i kanne ved bordet var den kald! Dette skjedde to ganger! De hadde gluten frie alternativer da vi bestilte egg benedict. Pluss for at det var hundevennlig. "
