We found our time at Casavecchia to be absolutely magical! Staying on a working (and famous) vineyard afforded us incredible views, and the ability to taste amazing wine with only a short walk down the hill. We rented the house for a month and during that time had various family members and friends visit and on one of the weeks, we easily and comfortably fit 8 adults. The house is a very charming old (centuries old!) Tuscan farmhouse with very comfortable common areas- the upstairs lounge area is the largest and perhaps most comfortable with big chairs and a couch, but we found ourselves using the downstairs lounge with its vintage overstuffed couch and chairs just as much. The air-conditioned bedrooms were elegantly outfitted and comfortable, and the handicap accessible bedroom/ bath on the lower level was amazingly large. The kitchen is fairly large for the type of house and area, and quite serviceable. We had 3 cooking classes during our stay with 3 wonderful chefs: Patrizia, Carmen and Francesco, who patiently taught us and our various guests to make pasta and delicious Tuscan dishes. Memorable experiences! The large dining area in the house is great, but we found ourselves eating most meals outside because the views of mountains, trees and vineyards were intoxicating. We had never seen sunsets quite like one observed while sitting around the lovely pool! The cleaning team (Luana and Martha) were kind to us and to our little dog! Greve is a picture perfect town with an amazing Enoteca right in its center, which provided a perfect, cool respite on a hot day where we could taste countless wines while eating tasty bruschetta. The house is well positioned to allow for easy trips to Florence, Siena and Castellina. Montalcino is not a difficult drive. We had amazing adventures while tasting wine in the nearby towns (Radda, Gaiole). Francesca (the owner) provided us with ideas of things to see and do while visiting. The most wonderful part of staying at Casavecchia, however, is Oliva the wine cellar and property manager! She is a gem of a person and makes it her mission to ensure that your stay is comfortable. She understood that my dog is my baby, welcomed her with open arms and helped to arrange care for her when we took long day trips. Tuscany is a fabulous place to visit and Oliva made our stay at Casavecchia special and wonderful.
