This experience was unacceptable due to the hotel’s failure to properly handle a serious and dangerous situation. The issue was not the hotel itself, but how security managed an incident that occurred directly outside our room.
A guest was screaming in the hallway claiming that someone had cut off her fingers, with her arms visibly covered in blood. She was clearly under the influence and in distress. We ran to the lobby to get help while still being able to hear her screaming from the second floor. Security eventually escorted her downstairs but failed to secure the doors, allowing her to return and continue screaming outside our room. This continued until approximately 4:00 a.m., when police finally arrived.
Police remained outside our door until nearly 5:00 a.m., questioning the guest and others involved. We could hear everything and were unable to rest. After witnessing something this disturbing, sleep was impossible.
While I understand that a hotel cannot control guest behavior, it is fully responsible for how emergencies are handled. The lack of control, failure to secure the area, and decision to allow this guest to remain at the hotel were unacceptable. I requested to be contacted and received no follow-up. In the morning, there was no manager available and no apology was offered, only the comment that “we can’t control the guests.”
This situation was mishandled from start to finish, with no accountability shown for its impact on guests.
