I have stayed in this hotel several times and have always had a good experience. This time, however, I was disappointed. I booked through Expedia and got a good deal as I had points to put towards the cost. I was allocated a room opposite the lift. As I was only staying one night, I did not ask for room to be changed. There was a tour group staying on the same floor and they came back in small groups into the the small hours of the morning. They were not rowdy but were talking quite loudly as they came out of the lift which made it difficult to sleep. I cannot help thinking that I was given this uncomfortable room because I did not book directly with the hotel. If hotels permit their rooms to be booked through online booking companies, then they should not discriminate between customers who book directly with the hotel and those that don't. That said, this is a good hotel for anyone who wants to stay in the city centre. The staff should be particularly commended for their friendly attitude to guests.
