Welcome to your next wonderful vacation getaway home, Falling Star Lodge! Named after the amazing night skies in the area, you'll love enjoying a cabin with modern luxuries while entrenched in the vast Black Hills forest with big skies. Located in the heart of the Northern Black Hills recreational corridor and in a subdivision adjacent to the Mickelson trail and Trail #5, you'll be hard pressed to find a better location perfect for your mountain biking, UTV/ATV or snowmobile adventures! Located on all paved roads, it's easy to access all the surrounding attractions. You can be skiing the slopes of Terry Peak in less than 10 minutes, hiking or fishing in Spearfish Canyon in less than 5 minutes, or enjoying a short 15 minute taxi ride into Deadwood to enjoy a local event or all the festivities that frequent the area! Mount Rushmore, Keystone, Custer State Park, Sylvan Lake and more are also within a 1 hour drive from the cabin. Whether it's a weekend with adventure filled activities, or a peaceful getaway relaxing and enjoy the wildlife and sunsets, Falling Star Lodge will become your new favorite vacation home!

After your daily adventures, coming home to the cabin is sure to be a pleasant experience. The open living area with 2-story ceilings and large windows will set the mood for a relaxing getaway. The main floor living, kitchen, and dining area all link together to create a seamless space for enjoying your friends/family. There's a fireplace in the main living area perfect for kicking your feet up by as well! The kitchen is fitted with a large farmhouse style sink and an island great for gathering around. The living area also leads out to the covered deck, perfectly made to enjoy wildlife viewing or grilling a great meal! The loft has a seating area and there are 2 bedrooms on the upper level. On the lower level, you'll find a perfect living room with sofa, along with a flat-screen TV and wet-bar. It's great for lounging with friends while making up a perfect drink for a cozy night in. There's also a washer/dryer on the lower level along with 2 more bedrooms. The lower level living area also leads out to the covered patio, complete with a hot tub and private backyard. The master suite smelled like an unclean person slept there and we had to hang the blankets outside and air out the room. The towels were very used and bleached stained not what we are accustomed to. I know that you have rules for check in time but we traveled a great distance with a 91 year old and she needed a bathroom break and we asked for a 20 minute early check in and you didn’t respond we checked out 2 hrs early. We’ve had a lot of good experiences with VRBO houses we won’t return to this house

The house itself is very nice. Not quite as large as the photos make it look. Suited our number of guests well enough. We were very disappointed by the disgusting towel, and wash cloths that were marked with bleach stains and scratchy. The bed pillows are ALL flat as pancakes and appear old. We highly recommend bring all your own pillows and towels. Towels look like those that would be used on a car. Very disappointing. For what we paid, decent pillows and towels should be a no brainer.

Spacious get away

This is a lovely home nestled in a beautiful neighborhood. The home was very spacious for our needs. Nice, modern decor which made it cozy. Only a couple of negatives which were the coffee pot did not work properly. It took 45 minutes to brew a pot. The shower pressure was not great and there were lots of cobwebs. Also could use new pillows on the beds. They were awful! We tried contacting the manager with his personal number that he gave to inquire about the possibility of a later check out and we got no response. Overall a very nice place.

Hills vacation

Fire pit and plastic lounge chairs unusable. Cleaning staff not getting into corners or outside of stairs. Heavy layer of dust on those. Even toilet paper dispenser covered in thick layer of dust. That was just the bathroom I used.

Falling Star Very good location with plenty of wildlife to enjoy as you sit on the porch or take a leisurely walk. Here is what we liked about Falling Star: o Host’s rapid response to questions. o Gas stove o Ample beautiful bathrooms with good water pressure in zero-entry showers o Nice complement of appliances o Mirrors in bedrooms o All beds were very comfy with great closet space in room o Lovely interior touches o Great natural light in living area o Comfortable gathering areas upstairs and downstairs o Washer and dryer availability o Enjoyed the games (cornhole, electronic darts and games downstairs) o Frequent visits from doe and fawn families, morning and dusk. o Hot tub worked perfectly o Good housekeeping overall Potential areas for consideration: o Would appreciate clearer instructions for trash disposal in the home-guidebook. There were no instructions for recycling, but a recycling trash can was out front by the porch. What should be included in the recycling can? (Glass? Cans? What plastics?) Where and when should the recycling trash can be placed for pick-up? o Final instructions in home-guidebook differed slightly from email. Perhaps an update is needed? o We missed having a crockpot in kitchen. o A little tight on space for vehicles/trailers/Can Ams for our purposes. o TVs are not in all adult bedrooms o Could not get the TV downstairs to work. AH-MAZING!

We absolutely loved staying here. Will definitely be back. Area is stunning. House was beautiful and pristine. Property manager was responsive. Community center was an added bonus. Close to Terry Peak. Beautiful development. My husband and six kids stayed and all got their own beds. Garage to park in. Just all...ah-mazing. Thank you!

Morning Star

We enjoyed our stay very much. We had an issue with the water heater and called the property manager. A plumber came and fixed the problem. Our grandchildren loved the pool and the splash pad at the community center. The house was only a short walk away from the center. Powder House Pass is well located, only short drive to Lead for any additional supplies you might need.

Beautiful Home BUT Very disappointed!!

Home was beautiful and location was perfect for our motorcycle trip however we ran into a number of issues that were very disappointing considering the price we paid. First there was still a load of sheets and towels in dryer running upon our arrival. Towels were put up wet (not damp) as it appeared they were not prepared for our arrival. More importantly, the downstairs bedroom had dirty sheets, hair clumps and dirt (gross) and pictures were provided to owner but no response. Hot tub was not properly cleaned as it foamed terribly on day 1. Pacman machine only let you move right so couldn't enjoy. Electric dart board gave error message and didn't work. I did reach out prior to leaving this review and was given a refund on the cleaning fee...honestly would have expected more considering but lesson learned.

Outstanding location and home, poor finishes.

The house is wonderful and in a fantastic location for exploring Deadwood and the northern black hills. The community pool was very nice. The finishes on the house were not great. The TV constantly had issues responding to the remote. The washer also had to be kicked off multiple times to complete a load of clothes due to low water flow. The place could definitely be five stars with a little more caring touch to it.

Winter Wonderland at Powder House Pass

This house was the perfect place in Powder House Pass for our family of five adults to hang out between skiing and snowmobiling. We rented snowmobiles from Mad Mountain which worked great. The trails were in excellent condition. The house appointments and everything else was awesome. We had thought two more adults and three children from our family might be joining us, and if they would have, this house is perfectly set up for that.
