Heavenly Headlam
As usual an awesome stay at Headlam Hall: Spa is fantastic, room in the old part of the hotel was gorgeous, food was beautiful and the staff are warm and welcoming. Would definitely give it a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend it.

The hotel was extremely busy with Christmas parties. Unfortunately, this made the service in the restaurant extremely slow. We waited over an hour for our main course. We stayed as a couple for a relaxing night away we used the fantastic spa area all in all the whole place is just so friendly and lovely don’t hesitate to stay here just book it!

Overall disappointed
Building and the surrounding areas were very nice. Check in was good and bar service etc as you would expect. Extremely disappointed with the prompt 11am check out on a weekend and breakfast only until 10am. These times are not in keeping with other hotels, especially at a weekend. Also offered to pay for a late checkout which was refused. Room service was only available until 9:30pm and no overnight service offered. Room was clean and newly refurbished feel but no aircon and you could only open one window slightly, as the other was sealed shut, it made the room very hot and an uncomfortable nights stay. They had a wedding on the Saturday, and this place certainly looks and caters for weddings, but felt other guests, who would pay the same, lost out because of this. For these reasons would not book again considering the cost!

Perfect country house hotel

A very relaxing stopover
A fantastic 1 night stay on our way to Northumberland and Scotland on a Monday night. We had a lovely room in the main house that overlooked the garden. The lady on reception (sorry didn't get her name) was super helpful and friendly. We ate in the restaurant which was very good. Even managed to a dip in the pool in the lovely spa building. Would definately stay again.

Loverly time. Just didn't get best night sleep due to light seeping in from corridor. However food, location and spa were all fantastic

Wedding celebration, lovely hotel and pleasant staff. Made to feel welcome on arrival. There was some noise from other bedrooms near to us. TV rather small for size of room. Would stay again, location good for visiting area.

Anniversary weekend
Thoroughly enjoyable weekend, staff very accomodating and polite. I have coeliac disease and they knew what it was and how to deal with it which made me at ease. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful relaxed weekend
Lovely atmosphere and helpful staff made our family get together a great success. Spacious luxurious rooms and a wonderful restaurant made it a weekend to remember.

Hard to find but worth the effort
We did get lost trying to find this hotel but the search was worth it! Wonderful facilities and wonderful staff. The restaurant was amazing and definitely worth trying.

Beautiful room in beautiful grounds. Excellent spa with outdoor hot tub and delicious food. A very traditional country English experience.

Great Food
Hotel was clean although a bit dated, leisure club has an outside hot tub which is great. Could do with a slight bit of tidying up but i suppose thats the charm of the place as well. Had dinner in the Orangerie and the service and food were excellent and worth the visit itself. Overall i will be back, even just for the kedgeree which was amazing!

lovely hotel for a weekend getaway
Beautiful hotel and grounds with a great spa. Room itself was lovely but didn't think the bathroom was up to the same standard. The shower had very little power and wasn't very hot. Other than that we had a lovely stay. The staff were very helpful and superb breakfast menu.

Lovely hotel but expensive for what you get
We stayed here as we were attending a family wedding. The hotel was nice, our room was comfortable and the breakfast was great however I don't think it's great value for money. Wstayed in better hotels for less. The pillows were very hard so I didn't have the best night's sleep.

Up-market dog-friendly hotel
We needed a dog-friendly hotel. The nicely furnished room contained a dog bowl with dog biscuits and a rug for sleeping / feeding. Dogs may be left alone in the rooms if they are not barkers or chewers! Dogs are permitted to walk in the grounds on a lead and outside the gates on the very large "village green" without restraint. The food is quite pricey but very good quality and the staff are amazingly pleasant.

Headlam Hall Hotel Good Old Fashion Honesty and Great Hospitality . Booked the hotel thorough Expedia But on arrival was told since I was on my own The rate would reflect a single occupant without prompting. This is a first for me - great atmosphere - found a retreat and would recommend this fantastic English country Hotel . Spa also a must

A lovely small hotel
The hotel was lovely and even though it was full the porter took time to explain all the facilities, how everything worked and where we needed to go for breakfast etc. The food was very high standard though the starter wasn't as hot as it should have been the rest was.Breakfast had a large choice of continental food or cooked breakfast and was included in the price of the stay so you could eat as much as you wanted.Spa facilities were great but you need to book in advance if teh hotel is full as space for treatments seems limited.My husband used the well equipped gym, sauna, pool and steam room and he frequently travels for work and said the facilities were of high standard.Lovely grounds for walking in too.

Rural peaceful and charming hotel
The food in the restaurant was excellent. Beautifully prepared and presented. We were in an annexe to the main hotel and although the room was nice enough there wasn't any real wow factor. I found the bed was too firm but other than that it was a perfectly serviceable bedroom. Maybe I should have paid the extra for one of the superior bedrooms but I thought it was expensive enough without going for upgrades. Location is excellent and the hotel itself is full of charming and quaint features.
